 These are taiwanese made. Ykk zippers, i can tell you already, which is okay um, they tend to be smooth. Go rocks take a little bit to get broken in, as you can see, um like this will take a little while to get smooth, whereas something like this bullet, which is already broken in, is just very smooth, but that's okay anyway, so that's it packed out. That'S kind of what it looks like i really like the shape the shapes a little bit more like this

 They gave one of my favorites. The radio ruck is a goruck bag. That is small. Basically, it's for small frame people - i am a short short person um, it's it's! It'S short in stature like a and normally a gr1 would be something like this i'll show you next to my bullet

 I think that that's going to be good in use to be honest, i'll put this guy in there there you go so i've packed out like that and there's like still space on top of where this dead matsuda is so wallets in this pocket. Since i don't use my wallets very much and uh, let's see so my keys in this front guy my mask because i tend to use those things and this top one i'll put my corona stuff this and this this zippers are all ykk. Laptop compartment does not fit 15 inches laptop ... maybe 14 inches laptop will fit, my lenovo x390 is okay, but msi gs65 does not fit, not even close

I would say if the laptop compartment can really fit my MSI GS-65, it would be the perfect Ruck

with laptop sleeve in the main compartment is okay (a little tight), but than there is no false bottom protection for it

 So that's what the radio rock is all about not offered very often so if this one applies to, you definitely go check it out now, link in the description on how to get one and go check out the radio rock there. It is the quick and dirty on the radio, ruck goruck's original bag that uh before the gr1 and a comparable size, 21 liters, but again a little shorter frame without a frame sheet. So very nice bag not exactly like the gr1 little subtle differences.  But still you get this deeper rook for maybe deeper items that, whatever you carried, maybe a larger camera bag that you're going to throw in here some other items. They just want that deeper size. This would be the right size for you important to note, though. The big difference between this and a gr1 is the lack of the frame sheet

 So that's just something to point out again: just an all-around carry bag. I would not recommend putting steel plates in it if you were going to use steel plates i'd go with a rucker for sure, but if you were crazy enough to just want to get one bag and use it for everything and have that bomb proof pocket, you Could put a plate in here show a picture here of what that looks like how much gap you have to put a steel plate. I put the 20 pounder in there just to show you how big that would fit the 30 pounder would fit uh and it again it fits just fine, there's a little bit of a play in there, but not much, and i wouldn't recommend putting in the elastic Pocket because it's just going to fly out, crush whatever results is in there, maybe even slide up the hitch in the heads, and it's also rain proof. So, just like all the other goruck bags, um the material and the quality, is just fantastic and it's a rainproof bag

 It'S essentially a little bit deeper than the gr1 and a little bit shorter. The dimensions, if you care, are posted right here you can see the dimensions, it's only a half inch, uh different and some of the dimensions and it's really taller.  Initially, I didn't think I'd be able to do an AT thru hike for at least a few years, when I could start in March and do a more reasonable NOBO attempt. But why wait? I watched Jupiter's ["Why I Start Hikes Late"]([URL REMOVED] and realized it'd be possible to go SOBO with an August start if I'm willing to zoom.

 It tends to want to like stay very close to my neck, and I always try to push them apart as best as I could, because that feels the most comfortable for me. That'S why I removed the sternum strap on the pack. I might as well show you guys, I just feel, like I don't know, they're like on the wider side, so I'm always like carrying them like this, otherwise they would just wrap that could also just be like my smaller frame so yeah. I just wonder if maybe exploring the shoulder, straps and dislike the overall design would be an improvement and comfort at all

 Valley bars, as opposed to pro bars, which are a lot denser and heavier, and then avocados instead of carrying one avocado for each day that I'd be on trail. I would carry two or something like that and like split them between the days so little things like that, and so, even though this may seem like pretty common sense, I feel like if you're not super focused when you're in town resupplying, it's very easy to over Pack - and it happened to me countless times - maybe I can talk more about these types of foods and just my overall approach to resupplying in a more updated video. Let me know in the comments, if you are interested in that and then as far as actually limiting the amount of food that I'm carrying out in favour of comfort, I really just try not to do this in general, unless I really have to so. For example, a long stretch 5 or more days, but also stretch where there's not a ton of water, and I have to carry like 3 liters of water at all times

 So the other thing - I'm not crazy about the simple pack - is the shoulder straps, so they're very wide and it's kind of stiff and compare it to my hyper light pack. The straps are very close together, whereas on the hyper light they're kind of far apart, I don't know if this has anything to do with overall comfort or not, but I do feel like when I put on the pack. So here I am backpacking with this really heavy pack going up mountains and having way too much stuff inside the pack, you can imagine that I was not comfortable. Actually, I was in a lot of pain, yeah so fast forward, a few years to 2016, when I decided that I wanted to through hike the John Muir Trail, I knew that I needed to get a new pack, so I ended up getting a Deuter 45 liter Pack - and it was a huge improvement overall in comfort, but this time I'd also figure it out what base weight was and so base weight is the weight of all your gear, including your pack, food and water, and I believe I was right around 12 to 15 Pounds so at this weight and with this new pack there was definitely a lot less strain on my low back overall, I felt a lot better than I did before, and so this was pretty exciting for me, because the potential of having an even lower base weight Would mean an even more enjoyable experience for me. So then, when I got home from the John Muir Trail, I almost immediately knew that I wanted to hike the Pacific Crest Trail

and so I wanted to make this video to

let you guys know what I think about the
pack my thoughts on ultralight gear

and share with you a few tips and tricks
when backpacking with a pack that doesn't

I'm also gonna answer
some questions I got on my last Instagram post regarding this pack
throughout the video so a little quick

story and it's actually answers the
first question which is how did I

transition from a pack with a hip belt
to one without so rewind back several

years to 2012 when I got my very first
pack this was an osprey 65 liter pack it

weighed 5 pounds
I think the pack itself it had a massive

hip belt and overall this pack ended up being pretty terrible for me at the

time actually if you go back two years
before that I got into an accident where

I was training for a bike tour I fell
off onto pavement broke one of my

vertebrae in my low back the bone ended up fusing naturally over time but my

back has never really been the same so
here I am backpacking with this really

heavy pack going up mountains and having
way too much stuff inside the pack you

can imagine that I was not comfortable
actually I was in a lot of pain yeah so
