JBL QUANTUM 800 - Best Wireless Gaming Headset 2021

 Plugging earbuds into the ps5 remote sounds better or the same as this. So much background noise, so much digital noise. Horrible low volume voice pickup but drop a pen and you will hear it. Changing my overall score

 Not bad just different, tighter. I play on PS5 not PC so i am not sure if the JBL surround options affect this, but i do use DTX on the playstation end. I did notice the surround sound got better and less narrow after messing witn the setting on the PC hub when i reconnected it to my playstation (turned it off and on). But after i couldn't tell a difference between on and off

1) Stupid price, (make it half the price of the HD800, in the same way a 6XX is less than half the price of a 650).

2) Sennheiser peacing out, so after your warranty with Drop expires after a year, you're literally 100% fucked (haven't kept up with the news, so correct me if they made it two years or w/e). Drop doesn't offer ANY kind of servicing, they will totally replace any unit of any items they sell if it's warranty is active. Sennheiser on the other hand won't touch Drop variants AT ALL, warranty active or not. So on top of them now leaving the game essentially, you wouldn't be able to even put a fist to their face and get them to service it

Audio Quality is good and creates 2 sound devices in windows. You can target your game to "Game" and your discord chat to "Chat" and then control the audio levels of both on the headset itself.  I've never had a situation where I was like, okay, I can't play this. Me playing Halo right now, which you really focus on a lot of detail and footsteps, which the footsteps are a lot more detailed in that game. I always caught them. I always felt that immersion and everything is really nothing that really put me at a disadvantage or advantage, right? Even with the DTS or the surround sound, which is a gimmick, you all know I always state that, but the core sound was good

 I was like, yo, what the heck's going on right here? And there's a lot of features and functions really packed in its headset, which is kind of creating a weight, which we'll talk about. Now, as far as the bill, again, it's pretty much all plastic. I showed you even at headband adjustment right there.  Whew, okay, okay, guys. Quantum 800s, there we go. We rounded them out right there. Let us wrap this up, okay? This headset comes in at $200, but lately, and what I scooped them up as, you can get them for like $150, $160, okay? So let's look at $150 right there

ALMOST GREAT! JBL Quantum 800 Wireless Headset Review

 After updating, the headset simply refuses to connect to the dongle. I have ended up resetting the software and hardware back to their default firmware, resulting in annoying notifications from the app everytime I power up the headset.  In my opinion, JBL got a lot right with this headset (the things they usually do right:sound quality and fidelity,) but flopped on some of the most important aspects. These failings just make the headset not worth it in my opinion

 The headset charges fast and lasts a very long time. The mic mute when raising the mic is also a requirement for me personally when selecting a new gaming headset, as it allows for an unambiguous mute when you don't want anything broadcast! (Remember those bathroom breaks?)  Cons: This headset has one MASSIVE flaw that I can't overlook, and I wouldn't have purchased them knowing it: the headset CAN'T charge while in use! This means if you forget to charge it, or when the headset inevitably stops holding a charge, you're totally out of luck! This was, in JBL's own words, a "design choice," which really means it is hard-wired planned obsolescence. When your headset stops holding a charge, you HAVE to buy a new one. For me, the next headset WON'T be JBL--even though I really like JBL's stuff normally

 If the cons I mentioned above don't bother you, this would make a good headset. My suggestion however, is to go with another brand with more experience making gaming hardware, at least until JBL figures it out.

Good headset ruined by one major flaw: Can't charge and use!

 ANC is really easy to toggle on or off with that tactile button at the top of the left ear cup, and there's a little voice prompt which tells you when it is enabled and disabled, so you're not guessing whether it's on or not. When turned on, I found the ANC to work really great. There wasn't any background noise. I found these to be very quiet and really great at removing room noise

 Equipped with both a 2.4GHz connection with a USB dongle and Bluetooth, the JBL Quantum 800 is a very convenient pair of headphones. And you can use both of those connections at the same time. Actually, you can use all three connections at the same time with the passive 3

 There wasn't any background noise. I found these to be very quiet and really great at removing room noise. I've been using these quite a bit when just working from home, not even just gaming, because it really does help to minimize background noise in a work from home situation. So now moving on to the only feature of the JBL which doesn't really blow me away, and that's battery life

4 gigahertz wireless. It's a pretty awesome headset for the $200 price and to test that a little bit more I have brought over my clickiest of clicky keyboards the Razer Huntsman Mini with their purple optical switches that are pretty clicky.
