Every other IP camera manufacturer should take note of the Circle View. Logitech pretty much nailed it on the feature set, picture & audio quality, HomeKit integration, and overall user experience. I've set up many different kinds of devices with HomeKit, both native and through a (relatively involved) Homebridge configuration, and including several different types of cameras. This camera was, hands down, the easiest one to add to HomeKit, and the most seamlessly integrated

Logitech gets it, mostly...

 The image quality is very good (night vision in complete darkness works very well but if there is some light, like a porch light, it is weak). The only real issue is the Wi-Fi range - it really is poor. I have three other very inexpensive outdoor cameras that are very stable at three times the distance and multiple walls in between. These cameras apparently get flaky at about 30 feet with a single wall

 I checked the WiFi signal at the camera with an app and it reads -50 to -55 dBm which should be more than enough for 1080p video. So the only thing left is that the camera is crap. Would have expected better for the price and considering that the camera is powered with a wire and not a battery. There's no excuse for the connection to be so poor

It's a huge bonus that HomeKit Secure Video includes 10 days of free cloud storage, but you have to set up a compatible Apple hub to enable that feature and it isn't *really* free (I'll go into more detail on this below).&nbsp;Overall, this is a decent camera, with plenty of features and solid performance. But it limits itself by only supporting Apple via the Home app. If you don't mind those limitations, this might be a good option

 it didn't actually appear to be enabled by default. that's when it detects motion which does like a really weird thing for a security camera. That weird Quirk aside. or maybe it was just something that was wrong with my setup

I’m wondering if anyone has recs because I just bought a Blink Mini and am thoroughly disappointed.

I’d like a camera with no monthly subscription to essentially keep an eye on my pets when they get sick and I have to go to work. A nanny cam essentially.

The Blink Mini will not work for me because when it tells me it noticed motion, it then takes 15 seconds of loading to start my live feed to see what is going on. By then, basically everything is done. I need something that will respond better than that.

Mostly everything except being able to watch live feed in a decent amount of time, being affordable ($30 ish), having okay photo quality, and being able to alert me to motion are extras to me. Being able to add an SD card or something for off cloud storage would be neat.

No monthly subscription home “security”camera?

Wyze included a link to a $3 coupon toward the purchase of a new Wyze Cam in the email. It currently offers five different models on its online store, with the flagship model, the Wyze Cam v3, costing $36. 

While exact dates for when a new product will one day become a paperweight aren’t exactly selling points for a company, transparency and trust are crucial for the future success of the smart home. And this is one place all companies selling these devices could do a lot better.

Last year, Google announced it would guarantee at least five years of support and updates for its smart home gear, and while Wyze has an End of Life policy, it's not well-advertised. For example, when you buy a Wyze Cam v3, there’s no obvious link to the policy on the product page (you have to click through to the Terms & Conditions where it's right at the bottom), and there is no specific mention of how long it will support its newer products. 

While five years is a relatively short lifespan for a security camera — considering the rock-bottom price of the original WyzeCam (it started out at $20), coupled with high-end features like HD video and sound and motion detection, it's not a bad run. Even if you purchased one two years ago, $10 or so for each year of coverage is still a good deal, especially as Wyze’s connected cameras don’t require a subscription to review recorded footage. 

While the WyzeCam will continue to work, Wyze warns in the email that it will no longer actively monitor or patch new security vulnerabilities for the device and that “your continued use of the WyzeCam after February 1, 2022 carries increased risk, is discouraged by Wyze, and is entirely at your own risk.”

I have many of these all over two houses, and also have them in several windows facing outside (I am not actually using them outdoors in the weather).  What I really like: They are very easy to set up and connect to WiFi. I love that there is no monitoring fee. If they’re not mounted to the wall (or a window) you can easily move them around the house

 I like that I can see all the cameras in a single app, and group them by each house that they are in.  What I don’t like: If the WiFi goes out, you lose your connection and your ability to monitor. It can be impossible to reboot your router and modem remotely (if you are using these in a house where you’re not physically there). If you can’t get your internet going again by rebooting your router remotely, then there is also no way to “restart” these cameras

LOVE them! (Mostly)

 The cameras seem really solid and well made. I had no trouble adding the homebase and camera, although I did have a lot of trouble creating my account in the first place. The app seemed less intuitive than Blink or Wyze - (not a dealbreaker), but worked. Image quality was great, sound was great, but I found that these had a 3-4 second delay

 As soon as they're in stock anywhere, I'll be adding two pan cameras for inside, and maybe their doorbell, depending on whether or not there is enough space on my door frame.  Here are all the cameras I've had/tried, to give you all some comparisons. This will be long, but the summary is that between Dericam, Blink, Eufy, Eufy Solo, LittleElf, and Wyze, I liked the Wyze ones best. I did not test Ring because they are really expensive and have no options for local storage at all

 Original indoor cameras that I want to replace - Dericam 1080P P2, indoor pan/tilt, purchased in 2017. They're old now and are showing their age, but there is virtually no lag time at all in the live feed, and you get all features and local storage without ever paying any fees. The app is kind of buggy and annoying (and slow by today's standards), but these cameras served me well for 3-4 years. They are deteriorating now though, and it's time for an upgrade
