Suction

C3 Kona Canister Vacuum & Temperamental Powerbrush

You have to forcefully DRAG it backwards (for the forward/backward motion of vacuuming). Miele Engineers - You obviously have NOT tried to vacuum carpets in your own home with this. PLEASE REDESIGN - you are making people suffer!!! If possible (which most of the options I've seen do not provide you with this), I would definitely recommend the C3 Kona Canister Vacuum itself, together with the Electrical Wand, but NOT this powerbrush - there is a much lighter version of the electrical powerbrush available (and it costs less).

Not as powerful as the UK version

We were in need of a small vacuum for our RV and tow vehicle. We tried the tiny Dyson canister first. We wouldn't have bought it if the shop didn't have a 30 day return even if used policy. So then we thought we'd buy the Henry as I had one back in the UK, and the suction was very powerful

I have recently bought this vacuum here in the US and it's not as powerful and sounds like it is struggling to start. This might be because the motor is designed for 230V/50Hz but I don't honestly know. The cost is high. If you take the exchange rate as of today the Henry in the UK would cost $153

Recommendations for a good vacuum for carpeted and hardwood floor for people with long hair and cats?

Great vacuum if you don't have to duct tape it together.

Built like tank, so should be durable. Long power cord. Good placement of handle for carrying. Vacuum bags hold a ton, so no need to change frequently

Cleaning Performance

Powerful vacuum; but testy powerbrush

The ergonomic handle with the switch on it is great. Finally, the interior where the bags sits stays super clean, and I love not having to touch the nastiness you vacuum up like you have to with a non-bagged unit like a Dyson. Who would want to do that? Gross. Overall I am glad I purchased

I also really love the long cord since it means i can drag it out into the driveway to clean up the cars without having to hunt around for an extension cord. And, although I do sometimes have issues with suction on enviro mode, turbo mode blows all the other vacuum cleaners I've ever used out of the water. Plus, Henry's cheerful smile is really charming, and I often find myself looking forward to cleaning up the house rather than dreading it.

Design

Canadian here!! Any recommendations on upright?

These are German made vacuums designed for long life, good filtration, and easy maintenance. This one's an upright (if you prefer that form factor over a canister), but you can detach the floor head and collapse the handle for portability when cleaning stairs with the hose.

Not as nice a British version, but still good

Who the heck is going to vacuum on low?! Have no idea why there is a switch for that, and why low setting is the default. Dumb design. But I'm still giving 4*s because of Henry's super cute smiling face =]

Filtration

Exceptionally Quiet and Exhaust Air Is Pure

Coming from a cheap Hoover upright, this thing is so quiet. I can't believe how much quieter this is even with the powerbrush in use. The HEPA filtration is just about perfection. I smell nothing but pure air while I am vacuuming

I’ve repaired vacuums and robot vacuums for years. To say that I’m a vacuum enthusiast would be a massive understatement! If you care about filtration, durability, and repairability, Numatic vacuums (Henry) are the correct choice for you. On top of that, they’re made in the UK and have superb build quality. Sure, a shark might be cheaper, but while you’re going through 3-4 units in a span of 6-7 years, your Henry will still be performing as if it was new

Ease Of Use

We feel that using the vacuum is very easy on your back compared to our experience with upright units. The hose in this model with the pivoting head makes it easy and less burdensome, since you don't have to worry about the hose getting twisted up on you. Switching attachments is also very quick and easy, and the different mechanisms feel like the rest of the unit, well made and durable.

Henry is everything he is advertised to be!!!

Henry is a great little vacuum cleaner that is easy to use, very quiet and much, much better than any other vacuum cleaner that we have ever owned. The extra long power chord, coupled with the long hose and great attachments, mean we can drag Henry farther and reach farther without any problems or without continuously changing outlets. He is a little bit heavy--with a low center of gravity--so he does not tip over easily yet has great manuverability. The suction power, even in the energy saver setting, is phenomenal and would probably suck the fur right off of our cat if we were ever able to get it that close to her! LOL! Just watch your knuckles if you hold on to the handle while pulling out the chord or you can end up with sore knuckles
