I'm leaning towards the GTX 970 as it is cheapest and my dad (was self employed in the pc industry with both software and hardware for 15 years) says it's still a very good card. Obviously cards like the RTX 3090 are out of the question but I'm looking for something at most under £200.

A diamond in the rough

If you can manage to scoop one of these up, do it. The pricing was fair (especially the way the market is currently) when I purchased this early February. I did notice Lenovo increased their pricing recently, which is disappointing, but it's still better than most of the market. Best of luck out there, stay safe and be well

Cooling

Nobody has built a better blower

Who could possibly resist the aesthetics of NVIDIA's high end blower coolers? There is somewhat of a premium when going for the reference design GTX 970, but it is definitely worth it for those who have very compact systems with minimal airflow. The GPU temperatures can get hot (though still within safe ranges), and they normally do, but most of that heat is being exhausted out the back of the case. It is probably safe to say that no AIB partners have been willing to build a better quality or better performing blower-style cooler than NVIDIA's reference design.

Gaming Laptop with hefty cooling solution and higher end parts (1000 - 2000$) (United States)

Being a 17.3" it offers better cooling than the standard 15" models. If you want more RAM or storage you just need to remove the bottom panel and everything is accessible from there.

Tech Support and Basic Questions Thread - January 11, 2021

What I want: play any game that comes out in the next 5 years and play current games on Max? I thought about just swapping graphics card but am so out of the loop with computer building. Don't know if purchasing something that could run anything is even compatible with my I7 and motherboard and willing to buy a completely new rig. What I am willing to spend: 2500 but of course any less would be welcome, Also I play on a 50 inch 4k tv and i'm wondering if that would drastically change the performance needed? please i am a complete noob level with current hardware. If you could post your specs or specs id need id be very greatful

Rev 1 still running strong. It's still got a few tricks up its sleeve.

When I purchased this card, it was substantially less expensive. I actually purchased it as an upgrade from my Radeon card (not to say that AMD is any less of a brand, nor Radeon any less of a GPU, but I needed hardware compatibility for the IRay render engine as well as VR readiness). However it still competes with the current video cards, and I've put it up against not only games, but also some industrial applications like AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Maya.
