While the Samsung UBD-K8500 doesn't support Dolby Vision it's the only mark against that player's name. Fantastic sounding CD player

 Cinavia's backers “claim” that their alterations to the audio signal are inaudible. But altering, (damaging) the audio quality of an officially released Blu-ray product being received by paying customers is not nice.  Sadly, the unit has no analog video outputs. This is FORCED on most manufacturers by the Hollywood Cartel

Arguably the best disc player you can buy. Any “faults” are FORCED by the Government or the Hollywood Cartel.

 So really nice front panel on it, very tough chassis, very stiff. It's got a toroid power supply in it. It's got a very substantial transport in it. And it's got the top of the line ESS DACs, fully differential from input to output

 You've got USB 3.0 and you've got a balanced DAC input for it as well and you've got the analog outputs. So in case you have an older receiver that doesn't do Dolby True HD or Atmos, you can use the analog outputs into your external inputs of your receiver and now you bring new life into your receiver again because this will do the decoding and it also has good base management in it as well. So this one guys is a very good, probably 95% of the customers would go with this route because most people are just using HDMI

 They put a lot of effort into these. They come with a little connection box. You've got a HDMI cable in here. You've got the same remote control they've been using for a number of years, excellent remote control and the power cable as well

OPPO UDP-203 & UDP-205 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray Player Quick Comparison

 Another big pro about this player is that it plays every type of content, whether it's a new form of CD, whether it's really high quality CDs, whether it's the super audio, whether it's DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray, it plays every type of media you throw at it. And to branch on that, if you plug in with a USB and external hard drive, it plays every type of media file I've thrown at it. I've thrown out MOV, MP4s, FLC files, and it's played everything flawlessly. Now the menu to navigate the player is very modern and very sleek

 I was on the fence for a while about getting this for 4K Blu-rays when it's the Xbox One S, the Samsung, all of these can be had for the sub $250 range. The reason I sprung for this one was because of the build quality. One. Two, this is the only player currently that has Dolby Vision on the market

 We're just talking difference in players here, but it overall gives a much better image. I think it just renders the image better. Now let's get to the Dolby Vision component. So this is the only player with the Dolby Vision that could read Dolby Vision discs

OPPO UDP-203 4K Blu-Ray Player Review

 My old guy ears cannot pick up any real discernible difference between the UDP-203 and another manufacturers audiophile grade CD player I own.  The interface is thoughtful in design and execution. It is quite elegant in its simplicity and ease of use. Not to mention that it looks really nice

 Oh, and oppo also includes an actual complete PAPER owners manual. Shocking.  Bottom line? When you combine the features, unparalleled picture and sound, ease of use, and build quality, the price of admission is so worth it. Think of the UDP-203 as an investment

  The player supports Dolby Atmos and Vision, and, coupled with the right AV components, provides the clearest, detailed picture and immersive sound that I have ever experienced in a consumer grade player. The disc load speed is lightning fast and error free. I have thrown everything at it, including 4K UHD Atmos and Vision discs and it handles them all with aplomb. The 4K upscaling is especially good

 I have put the unit through its paces for 30 days before reviewing and it has never faltered. This thing is built like a tank.  The player supports Dolby Atmos and Vision, and, coupled with the right AV components, provides the clearest, detailed picture and immersive sound that I have ever experienced in a consumer grade player. The disc load speed is lightning fast and error free

 So right now it's up-converting with its scaler, this 1080p movie, to 4K. So I knew going into this that this was more of a player than I needed, but I like the fact that I could get the best decoder in the industry that can play my discs and play my MKV rips without issue. Unfortunately, it just doesn't do a very good job of those 4K MKV files over the network, and because it is an endangered species, I don't anticipate them improving that function, given that it's not representing a bulk of what their customers are looking for. So for me, I think I'm going to be parting with this player as good as it is and looking at something a little less expensive that I'm going to use primarily as a disc player, and I'll continue to suffer along with my Nvidia shield and the fact that it's not color-switching properly

 We're going to look at how this player performs both in its ability to play back discs, but also its ability to play back movies over the network to see how well it does. Those also take a while to stream up here, so I will back out of the menu here and go over to one of my other Star Wars films. We'll look at Return of the Jedi, and this will also take a little bit of time here as it's thinking about what it's doing. I'm guessing it's caching up some stuff in the background, and then it will start playing back, so that's good

 Otherwise, those traditional Blu-rays don't look right, and that's been a bit of an annoyance for me. So partly why I went after this player is that it supported all the color modes, as I mentioned, but it also is able to very easily switch between resolutions and color modes without a lot of hassle. And I really did need a good optical disc player. I was using the Xbox One S as my optical disc player, but it doesn't handle the HDR color modes all that great

 And I wanted to find the best way to watch these movies on that television upstairs. And today we're going to be taking a look at an endangered species, the UDP-203 from Oppo. This is a 4K UHD Blu-ray player that has been discontinued but is still available. So they're going to be winding down production of these

 I bought the 203 for my main home theater application.  What a great value the 203 is. As an owner of BOTH Opposition UDP units, you are really getting a lot more performance for your dollar and build quality than other mid range 4k players. If you're looking in a $400 range I'd even suggest pushing your upper limits and going here

:) The high end audio and a/v community gives OPPO high marks. At $549 plus $18 shipping I consider this a very good deal considering the overall quality of build and numerous features. The OPPO replacing a very old LG blu ray upscaling dvd player purchased for $88 from Frye's about 10 years ago. Yup I was behind the curve for a long time

 Hooked up today with help from OPPO tech assistance. The unit needed a firmware update and I am not tech savvy. Then played a few minutes of a rented Netflix Blu ray dvd and the OH WOW began. Rich color, high res, and big sound

.$83 at that time, now a reasonable $19) which I have had continuous delivery issues with in my area. Regardless, FedEx did not deliver the oppo, and insisted that they did. Amazon CS and oppo CS both hung me out to dry and claimed FedEX was not at fault

 They simply wouldn’t honor their A-Z guarantee, a first in my experience.  Buyer Beware!

  Long story short: oppo insists on using FedEx (despite the then-exorbitant S&H charged...$83 at that time, now a reasonable $19) which I have had continuous delivery issues with in my area

 I tried it in both. The Gears of War 4 edition, the Battlefield 1 edition, doesn't play. If this is the kind of thing that happens with the Xbox One S, I want to make sure the Blu-ray discs that I buy, I can play. Otherwise, what's the use? I can't return them and sell them to somebody else, but they have an Xbox One S, they can't play it

The BDR-XD07B is a more compact drive that’s best at ripping DVDs. It supports Blu-ray but not 4K UHD discs.

 However, after reading some reviews where users reported their discs being scratched, I decided to go with Pioneer instead. Years ago, I had Pioneer head units in my vehicles, so I knew them for their quality back then.  I purchased this drive primarily for reading a bunch of my existing Blu-Rays and DVDs. In total, I've probably had it read over 100 various discs so far, and I've only had it not work once on a DVD that had a lot of scratches

Before I purchased this, I went through a lot of reviews of external Blu-Ray drives. Originally I was going to go with an LG drive, as I used an internal LG drive in my previous desktop. However, after reading some reviews where users reported their discs being scratched, I decided to go with Pioneer instead. Years ago, I had Pioneer head units in my vehicles, so I knew them for their quality back then

com/Pioneer-BDR-XD07UHD-Slim-Portable-Burner/dp/B081R7HGV4/ Pioneer's marketing doesn't do the best job at highlighting the differences between their own drives. I meant to purchase a drive with UHD support, but ended up with this one. In either case, I'm still happy with the drive and it's my own fault for not reading the description closely enough, so my rating remains at 5 stars.

Great little drive, but don't get it for UHD discs...

 Such a flawed process to be able to use a hardware product that specifically states it can be used for BluRay is completely unacceptable and reflects on the quality of the hardware and software companies (Pioneer and CyberLink). Pioneer should have INLCUDED a software CD or USB drive in it's product packaging, since it is required to make it work as advertised. Failure by Pioneer! To me the product is therefore useless as advertised. Should have gone with other equal or better BluRay player options out there
