 So the uh i'll give a couple details on the configurations of these, because it can be kind of confusing and it was fairly confusing for me when i first got these in and i was looking at um, i was looking at kind of the the box designations And whatnot, so both of these are drifts um. So this is obviously the g10 version down here and then this is the titanium version up here. The titanium version comes in a couple, different configurations um, so you have a stonewash finish on the the blade or the the handle right here. As you can see, i think they also have like a knurled finish here

So this is the satin blade and then on the g10 version here, which is the orange g10

 So for starters, i'm going to flip this over and you can take a look at the pocket clip here now. This reminds me a lot of the spyderco wire clip because they look almost identical with a few few differences, but it's excellent. I mean the you know it there's not much to it, it's very basic, but it works, and i think it holds very well. I like a deep, carry clip on something like this

So it was a knife that was really really good at every time, except the opening uh and the deployment on. It, though, was just not very good, and so it felt like a shot out of the pocket bounced off a light pole and landed in the stands right, not amazing, at all um

I wasn't impressed.  I thought the handle was way too light compared to the weight of the blade. It's a thick blade. They should have narrowed it down to lighten it for this version to help with balancing the handle

The nicest knife i own! I told her about my small knife collection and why i EDC a knife. Then showed her different knifes on bladehq and that ive been wanting a spyderco para 3 and she had no idea what i was talking about. But she knocked the ball out of the park with this bad boy! She was honest after we opened our gifts and told me she was sorry and forgot what knife i wanted and picked a coolest looking one. I told her she did awesome and i love it to bits!

Holding it open feels great in the hand as far as comfort and love how light it is. Don’t really get why the release is on the spine of the knife instead of where they traditionally are on most folders, makes it much harder to close one handed.   Being somewhat new to Spyderco, I didn't realize there were two flavors of FRN handles. I decided to purchase this knife based on my extremely positive impressions of two other knives I own: a blurple Para 3 with a G-10 handle and a Delica 4 with an FRN handle. The Delica 4 has steel liners, and it feels more natural to hold. On the other hand, the G-10 handle on my other Para 3 is a bit blocky and doesn't slip in and out of my pocket as easily as the FRN, but I do like its heft

  The liner-less Para 3 FRN handle lacks weight, which makes it seem a bit plasticky and cheap, but that's a very real deception. I think most people tend to falsely equate heft with quality. Upon close examination, the FRN is very well made and functions extremely well. It feels good in hand in terms of size, and all the mechanics on the knife work great

Some of Spyerco's FRN knives have steel liners while others do not. This one does not have any liners. What that translates to is a very lightweight knife, to the point that it feels a bit unbalanced. I prefer a little heft to my knives

 This isn’t that bad but I think BD1 should be a little better with some work. That being said I can get this knife far sharper than factory in 5 min w a worksharp precision angle sharpener and a leather strop so no worries. My second issue is that the finish scuffs up fairly easily.the black DLC blades scratch really easy but this stainless look also took wear from rubbing on my keys and sharpening sticks camping

 I have a ZT0456 in stainless and I used it to chop wood. The lock failed on me but after a dip in the sink and simple washing the blade was spotless. To be fair the zt is 20CV vs the spydercos BD1. Overall great value for the money

My main area of contention is the quality of the knife. I am looking for higher end knives that run along this style. I have had no luck in finding the BladeHQ S30V version of it, so I am hoping to get some suggestion on other knives like it that are higher end. Roughly between 200-300 with better steel and hardware. Any help would be appreciated!

Kershaw Skyline Higher End Alternatives?

  I wanted something sub 3 inch blade size for EDC instead of carrying around the somewhat bulky PM2, which is a fantastic knife. I decided to give this one a shot as I love my PM2s and wanted something similar. Not only was I disappointed in getting something very very different from my PM2, but I didn't like the knife at all.  The weight distribution is just so off

 The handle is very light (and the knife is light, which is good), however in proportion to the blade, it is uncomfortable to open and handle. The steel is OK (I prefer S30V), but the pocket clip also stinks.  For the price, I think the S30V/G10 version of this knife is about 10x better and that is what I ended up with instead.
