 You can close it up if you're not using it so you don't get any water in there. in the back of the book bag, it's nice and padded. There's actually a hard liner in here you can take out if you don't want it, but it's nice because it's got these breathable channels in here so when you're wearing on your back it helps channel in the air so it stays nice and cool. 5.11 Tactical - Rush 72 Review

 First of all, the quality overall is very good and better than your average bag. I particularly like the handle at the top of the bag, feels unbreakable. I also really liked the full-length pockets on the side, which is something I pretty much insist on having in a backpack, since it's perfect for water bottles, cookware, certain shelter items, etc. The zippers are overall well-made and I have not had anything catch or fail

 great for cell phone sunglasses. Anything you don't want scratch in there, I just have myself in right now. It's basically the top of the bag forgot to mention On the side here, there are two compression straps, one running right here that comes over. Let me open it up a little bit so you can secure what's inside here and another one up here and again

..but I'll tell ya, for BOB opr get home bag, the ALICE pack with or with out frame is hard to beat in terms of reliability and strength. I've pulled and tugged so hard on alice pack straps to tighten down sleeping bags, weapons, helmets, you name it and they never, not once, broke

You do have some air channels so you got two spots right here for your upper back and then for your lumbar down here. some nice cushioning, Dense cushioning

 Now we have an official hip belt down here, not a hip strap. A hip belt load bearing will load transferring pack down here, so this actually extends out really well so this will take the weight from out of the pack down to your hips. 5.11 RUSH 72 2.0: When Rugged Meets High Value!

Decent bag, but not easy to keep organized.

I've been searching for months trying to find a good backpack for a three day outing. Finally it came down to this or the Kelty Redwing, but ultimately I went with this bag. I have to echo everything others have said with regard to the bags solid manufacturing, reinforced seams, adequately padded straps and tough material. What really sold me on the Rush 72 versus the Kelty was all of the organizational detail inside

 And with much gnashing of teeth (and maybe a little foot stomping), I open "Sandstone" pack number two and find it also vividly green! Desperately wanting a true sand color, I rinse and repeat the whole process, and of course the third "Sandstone" bag was also OD green! Aaaaauuuuggghhhh! Sorry, I need to take a deep breath here. ::inhale-count to five-exhale:: There. The rage wave is receding.

11's product photos of the "Sandstone" bag on their site appear definitively khaki or sand colored on both my Window PC and boyfriend's Android phone, as well as my iPad Air 2, which ruled out color saturation differences across varying devices.
