 This is a different take on the flagship Chromebook. So as we open things up here, nothing out of the ordinary, a two piece charger, a cardboard box, but as we always say, none of this stuff's what you're here for. Acer Chromebook Spin 714 Unboxing: Big Specs, Realistic ...

Super fast, nice display, but some cons. See workaround for pops/clicks.

 One of the biggest wins Acer has had in the past few years with the Spin 713 has been the display used in each model with a QHD resolution, 13.5 inch size, and a three by two aspect ratio, the Spin 713 has always been beloved mainly because of its screen and many times it was even in spite of some serious shortcomings with those previous Chromebooks. It's easy to forgive a mediocre keyboard and speakers when the screen that you look at every moment you use the Chromebook is so damn good. Where the Spin 713 standout feature was absolutely the screen, the 714 sacrifices in this area just a bit

 So with the Spin 513 holding down that particular form factor here for 2022, Acer took some of their more premium pieces and crafted the Spin 714 with the latest 12th gen Intel processors inside. The model currently on sale at Best Buy comes in at $729 and it's equipped with a Core i5, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of NVMe storage. As always, there may end up being other variants on Acer's website, but for now, the Best Buy model is what's available and this thing is crazy fast. The Chromebook Spin 713 from 2020 and 2021 are among the most popular, most loved Chromebooks ever made and the Chromebook Spin 513 is one of my personal favorite Chromebooks of 2022. Acer Chromebook Spin 714 Review: A New Spin on a Fan ...

I’m trying to get back into writing after a long hiatus but my laptop is a big ol’ gaming one that I don’t enjoy writing with, so I’m in the market for something smaller and lighter that I can comfortable write with on my lap on the couch and around the house. 

I’ve decided that a Chromebook seems like the best bet because I need like two things out this laptop: word processing and web browsing. I like Docs and Chromebooks are ultra cheap compared to Windows and Mac laptops, so it seems logical to get one. I am open to any suggestions for Windows/Mac though!

The main things I’m concerned about though are physical things. I’d like a smaller screen (10-13in) because I want this thing to be ultra portable. I want to be able to throw it in any bag and take it with me wherever, and if I’m just carrying it I’d like it to be as light and thin as possible so it’s comfortable to just hold in one arm. I assume a smaller screen is just necessary to that. 

Outside of that I’m sadly concerned with aesthetics lol. I like metal, not plastic, or at least a premium plastic feel. I’d love for it to have a great keyboard so it feels nice to type on. 

I love the look of the Pixelbook Go but I can’t justify spending that much more just for a laptop to write with and browse the web. I love the size and idea of a Lenovo Duet, but I need that clamshell keyboard so I can write on my lap and I for sure cannot do that with its keyboard and kickstand.

So: light, thin, premium-ish feel, and small laptop under $500 that’s easily portable and writes well on my lap. Any recommendations?

Cheap (under $500), light and ultra portable Chromebook for a writer?

 It remains a compact and portable Chromebook, even if its heft is a bit greater than expected.

 On the whole, the three Core i5-based Chromebooks offer clearly superior performance to the two Qualcomm Snapdragon-based models.

But again, the display is the biggest change in going from the Spin 713 to the 714. Gone is the closer-to-square, extra-tall 3:2 panel in favor of a 14-inch, 16:10 one. The 16:10 aspect ratio feels like it&rsquo;s in the sweet spot between the productivity-minded 3:2 and the entertainment-focused 16:9. 

8-by-9.3-inch Spin 713. It remains a compact and portable Chromebook, even if its heft is a bit greater than expected.

 And again, I'm just really happy with the screen size on this thing and it's still feeling like an overall portable device. So lastly, let's actually look around the outside of this thing real quick. So we've got a handful of ports here as well. I've got USB type C here

 Now we don't have any like full blown manufacturer ready bought it at Best Buy kind of Alder Lake Chromebooks. Yeah, we're still waiting on probably HP's Dragonfly Chromebook will be the first one will actually get in hand, say this is a production ready device. And again, I'm just really happy with the screen size on this thing and it's still feeling like an overall portable device. So lastly, let's actually look around the outside of this thing real quick

This device shares a lot of similar DNA with the multiple iterations of the Chromebook Spin 713 that have come before it, but it also has a bunch of great additions that help set it apart from that group as well. Acer Chromebook Spin 714 Hands-On First Impressions

I&#39;ve recently started looking into Chromebook as my next main daily driver and I&#39;m hoping to keep this until its death. I&#39;m deciding between these two and I&#39;m not sure which one to choose. Below are the specs: 

Acer Spin 713 (Renewed on Amazon) for $549.00CAD 
i3-10110U - 8GB Memory - 128GB eMMC Storage 

Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 (Renewed on Amazon) for$399.00CAD 
i3-10110 - 8GB Memory - 128GB 

My main priority is functionality (i.e., I move between bedroom to kitchen table to my car so it has to be pretty sturdy when going from laptop form to tablet form). I would use my Airpods to listen to the computer when working so speakers don&#39;t really matter to me. I don&#39;t really mind the bulkyness of the laptop. It would be nice if I could use an external monitor to extend the screen and do more work (idk if this matters but oh well) 

I&#39;m not a heavy software user (i.e., games or video editing). My main use of it would be for research, typing and YouTube videos. I tend to have 5-10 tabs open on an easy day and I&#39;m about to start a course soon so I need a good laptop for school hence why I&#39;m going for an 8GB RAM. My ecosystem is google-based (i.e., google drive, google calendar, google home mini, etc) so it&#39;s why I&#39;m leaning more towards a Chromebook than a Window-based laptop. I would also like to get back to photography so running Lightroom would be really nice but if either of these can&#39;t run them, it&#39;s okay 

I went to nearby electronic stores to try them out but didn&#39;t find them so I just tried other Acer and Lenovo Chromebook available and I seem to like the typing feeling for Lenovo. The touchpad for the Acer seemed off to me which was kind of disappointing but I could probably just get a wireless mouse. From my own research, Acer seems to be a good and popular choice, including the fact that it&#39;s a 3:2 ratio (idk if it would make a massive difference to me. I watched a YouTube video from an Acer 13 and it looked normal). But I&#39;ve also heard that Lenovo makes sturdy laptops and they&#39;ve been making 360 laptops for a very long time so they have that factor down 

What are your thoughts? What are your experiences with them? Thank you in advance!

Acer Spin 713 or Lenovo Flex 5?

I'll be joining a new company on November as a software engineer, and I'm allowed to choose my own laptop as long as it's a chromebook, with no restrictions on budget.

For the last 4 years I've worked on 15" laptops, but the chromebooks I found on that size (Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630/acer 715) only have 8GB RAM, and I think I'll be needing 16GB. 

Going down to 14", what I'd love to get is the Asus Chromeboox CX9, but it doesn't seem to be available here in Spain. The next option would be the Dell Latitude 7410 Chromebook Enterprise.

Is there anything better I haven't considered?
