If you want to sear or sauté, the All-Clad D3 Stainless Cookware Tri-ply is the best. i have a t-fal set, fairly affordable and very popular but i hear that i cannot go high heat on that as the inside is made of metal and the coating can tear and get on food and cause cancer. it has high carcinogen levels , so folks, what are a better replacement. i dont ha

  I use wooden and nylon utensils and normally cook on 2/3/4 setting on my gas stove.  When Boiling water ill go to 5/6 for pasta - but hey thats only water lol.  Overall - disappointed but unless you want to pay the all clad price - i guess this is the best substitute :(

Ehhhhh - follow up review

It was important to me to buy "Made in USA" and this cookware is absolutely beautiful. After reading the directions for cooking (located on the warranty pamphlet) I used one pan on low to medium heat. I was quite surprised to see blue marks located in the bottom of the pot. I cleaned and tried it again on a small pan

Even when only cooking on low or medium heat on a gas stove I had blue marks in bottom of pan.

Nice pans but the handles of the pans and the lids get WAY too hot. Dangerously hot. This company needs to investigate some kind of thermal barrier between the pan/lid and the handle (durable ceramic, some kind of silicon washers, _something_).

 When they arrived, I was immediately struck at how nice these pots and pans are. So professional looking and the nicest we've ever owned, even after having the expensive Belgique and Cuisinart sets. There's just something about these that look and feel more expensive. On close inspection, we couldn't see any exposed aluminum

and ugly. Last year I decided it was time to get something else so purchased a Cuisinart stainless steel set that also stated they were dishwasher safe. It was quickly apparent that they really weren't, as they also had an exposed aluminum edge (on the top of their products) that wore down and the stainless layers also became sharp.  Being very frustrated about this, I decided to do some serious research on stainless steel pots and pans - reading hundreds of reviews and articles and washing dozens of videos to learn everything I could

 Like ever. Never ever ever. If I could go back and not put that 1 pot in the dishwasher last night, I would. I don't mind hand washing, but if something is advertised as dishwasher safe, then it really should be

High Quality Cookware

. Ours was manufactured in China, but that was pretty much expected. It is stainless so those expecting ease of clean up like Teflon or ceramic will be disappointed obviously, but stainless is a whole different animal and if you treat it right and use it properly it works and cleans up almost easily as modern chemical based cookware without the worry of what your feeding your family unknowingly. In other words, it's not for the 'super' lazy cook if you want it to continue to look great, and it does look great, it needs a bit of care

 We were replacing our old stuff and wanted to buy cookware that we would use for the rest of our lives, without any worry of eating the coating in our scrambled eggs etc... Ours was manufactured in China, but that was pretty much expected

 The one negative I have to give this set is that the 12" fry pan has a less than ideal flare to its sides. They flare out at such a shallow angle that it reduces the area of flat cooking surface that's available. If they would have just scaled up their 10" fry pan, it would be perfect.

 The riveted handles look and feel bullet proof. They do come pristine and polished so if you plan on doing any cooking you have to get over the fact that they will acquire scuffs and slight discoloration over time, but their performance will last. Excellent, low-priced rival to All-Clad

True, the stainless steel doesn't release food as readily, and the pans have a tendency to dull (without upkeep), but I didn't buy these for their aesthetics,  there were purchased for their ability to cook our food evenly and quickly.

I'm quite happy with our new set; we previously had a non-stick (titanium) coating that blistered and flaked-away.
