Apeks MTX-RC

Its environmentally sealed from the get-go and doesn't require packing it with expensive Christo-lube since its a diaphragm and if you get dry mouth while diving this regulator is the cure for it. Depending on how you want to advance with diving this regulator is excellent for recreational dives, technical diving, even extremely cold water diving. The only other regulator I would pick outside of the MTX-RC, for less money but equal value, is the XT4 from Dive Rite. Ultimately you hear a lot about it being a "cold diving regulator" but it makes no difference to use it in warm waters either, which I do all the time in West Palm Beach; however, on the other hand you couldn't take a regulator not rated for cold water into a cold water dive (should you ever want to explore that option), so for me its a win/win for the Apexs MTX-RC.

Honestly, you're on the right path with APEX. We bought MTX-RC with the MTX-R octos and we love love love love these regs. We went from Atomic B2, which is an absolute waste of money, and with these MTX-RC we immediately noticed we no longer have dry mouth issues, these are some of the best breathing regulators I've ever used, full stop. The XTX isn't far off the MTX, all depends on what you want to do.

I went in to my local AL/Apeks dealer and talked a bunch. He says PFL costs about 120$CAD/year on average to maintain and depending on the amount of dives this might not be the best, he says that I could easily get service every 2-3years with them only changing the required parts. Based on the feedback here I've decided to not go with the MTX RC, I am looking at the xtx 50 and the XL4+.
