I got an iPad Mini 6 for reading and didn’t notice it until I checked just now. Sure enough, it’s there. Thankfully, it doesn’t bother me much since I rarely fast-scroll while reading. I suspect this will be most noticeable to those who use a lot of social media in portrait mode.

Will Apple be able to fix this with a software update or should I be worried that I have to keep using the tablet with this issie, unable to return it after 14 days ?

Seems especially beneath Apple’s standards to let something so glaringly jarring pass on a device where the display is everything. I feel bad for the Mini fans that have waited so long.

Only in portrait mode: Once you notice it it is almost unbearable -  tried to replicate it on an iPhone XS and iPad Air 4 but not that bad on those.

Had the mini all weekend and couldn't have told you what it was called but did notice especially on reddit and Facebook that text would get slanted when scrolling, even at a moderate speed. Probably going to have to return it because it really messes with my head. Love the thing and the size of it other than that one problem.

This is actually terrible. The ONLY reason why anyone would buy an iPad mini 6 is to use the small but large enough screen. Imagine reading with this and seeing this defect. Embarrassing.

I got one on release day and hadn't noticed this until reading this. 

At my normal scrolling speed while reading, I don't see it. But just slightly faster and it looks pretty bad. I can make my iPhone SE2 do this in landscape, but the smaller screen makes it less noticeable. My wife's iPhone 12 also does this somewhat in landscape. And it's OLED.  

I was already a bit disappointed in the low max brightness of the display. I'm not usually super picky about stuff, but weird scrolling in portrait and not-quite-bright-enough movies in landscape is probably going to be enough for me to return it. I just hate the idea of holding on to it and hoping they fix it (or even just make it half as noticeable).

Definitely not returning it over something that minor. Sure, I noticed it too after using it for a while. But coming from a 120hz Pro screen the whole experience on the Mini 6 is generally less "liquid". I didn't buy the Mini to be blazing fast, but rather to be maximum portable and my everyday small-form-factor companion. It does that perfectly well and I can't see why you would buy a 60hz tablet for that price and expect it to be as fluid as their top of the line models. The Mini 6 is a great device in my opinion and to me it feels like people just need something to complain about. This is hardly a jelly-gate or something worth returning your device over. Show me one electronic device which doesn't have one minor annoyance. I'm visually impaired and I can handle this "problem" just fine, seems people are just too used to always getting their way these days.

I remember this being an issue on the oneplus 5. It was caused by the display being mounted upside down.

Weird that I don’t notice anything on our 2 mini6. Although I’m pissed about how easy the screen gets scratched. I just put my 12 Pro on top and it already scratched. Lol

New iPad mini owners report 'jelly scrolling' problems

 Again, I made sure they had the same settings - max brightness, Night Shift off, and True Tone both on and off. The Mini 5 screen always wins by a hair.  Add to all that the removal of the headphone jack and I'd say that if you don't need Pencil 2 support, keep your Mini 5 or buy a refurbished one if you're in the market for your first Mini. Save yourself some money too

Kind of a dud of an update

  Other then resolution, my old Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (2014) had a vastly better screen, more vibrant, better colors, no jelly scrolling, doesn't have the screen press issue.  The Mini 6 just feels like Apple cut corners but kept the premium price.

Due to the lack of 8-inch Android tablets, I'm jumping in on the iPad Mini 6. It'll be my first ever Apple product. I'm just frustrated with Android manufacturers' lack of presence in the mini tablet space. I'm excited.

Question - how does the iPad Mini (I guess iPads in general) do with editing and marking up PDF files? I'll also be reading on the Kindle app a lot.
