It's a great option if you're always on the go, overheat easily, or find yourself ripping your jacket off the second you step inside. It's also light and compact enough to drape over your bag. The jacket uses high-loft, 750 fill down to hold maximal warmth around your shoulders, chest, back, and over your arms. It uses synthetic insulation in areas that are more likely to get wet, like the collar, hood, side panels, underarms, and around the lower eight inches of the jacket. The combination works well for us when we're rushing around. The jacket is also windproof and fully waterproof for warmer, wetter winters.
The downside is that the jacket isn't as warm. We notice the chill in our arms and thighs in temperatures approaching single digits, especially if we sit down outside. The two-way zipper stops about eight inches above the hem. This feature gives you plenty of room to walk but does let cold air creep in. You can close it with a small snap, but then the jacket is a bit restrictive. We liked it best in weather above 10 degrees. This trim and durable jacket will keep you feeling comfortable and looking put together in winter weather.

Good fit for the pear shaped, sleeves are of the right length (not too long, rare find for me), stylish details, nice pearly white color. It fits great, and it’s warm thus the five stars! but I have not washed it yet, so not sure how it would look like after and will it retain the warmth.

Good balance of style and functionality

 The Patera parka is made of goose down and is windproof and waterproof. The design also adds to the warmth, with the long length, big adjustable hood and high collar. It has done the trick for me in weather, ranging from minus 20 degrees Celsius to zero without getting too warm. The nice thing about this jacket is that the style is versatile

 This here is the black sapphire color. The jacket also fits true to size. According to the sizing chart online. I'M five six and about 120 pounds and I'm wearing a size small with plenty of room for a sweatshirt and unrestricted arm movement

 So that's the baffles in the front of the mouth and under the arms. So we see this type of zonal installation in loads of other jackets across the architects range, so they call it composite down nothing. Basically, what it means is that you get all of the benefits, so the warmth and the weight benefits of having a down jacket, combined with the synthetic insulation ability to keep its loft and keep you warm when it gets wet. Now, traditionally, the biggest downfall of wearing a down jacket is that you can't wear it out in the rain, because when the down gets wet, it loses its loft and you get cold, but for you're not surrounding all of this really toasty insulation is a 75 denier

 Then you have this little flat with some little press studs all the way down the length of the zip. Now that not only adds an element of water resistancy to the zip, but also just gives it that really lovely slick finish in the front of the jacket so pockets wise in the front. You have to really generously sized hand pockets. Now

 Moving on to the main zip, you have a two way main zip in the front now that helps to add a little bit of extra ventilation, but also music. You can undo it from the bottom when you want to sit down over the top of that main zip. Then you have this little flat with some little press studs all the way down the length of the zip. Now that not only adds an element of water resistancy to the zip, but also just gives it that really lovely slick finish in the front of the jacket so pockets wise in the front

 So it has a fully waterproof gore-tex membrane, with zoned core loft and down insulation. It then features this really tough and stylish and sleek design, so it fits in really really well into just kind of everyday life. So it's the perfect piece to wear kind of in and around town to frosty rugby matches dog walking on the weekend. But it's also stylish and sleek enough to wear out to dinner in the evening

Best in city conditions, the Arc’teryx Patera Parka is a casual jacket designed to be warm in fluctuating temps and protective against biting wind and rain. It’s versatile enough to carry you through quick errands or long walks on city blocks but definitely isn’t a go-to for technical hikes or sports. It has a sleek, minimalist look that’s hard to find in a parka and is warm enough to get you through long Michigan winters.

While this jacket isn’t particularly packable, it’s lightweight and thin enough that you can bring it on trips without cursing the extra bulk and durable enough for you to feel confident crunching it up a little if need be.

It’s said that a good jacket is an investment, but the Patera’s hefty price definitely had us wavering a bit. Arc’teryx isn’t known for being budget-friendly, but what they lack in approachability they make up for in product quality and innovation. So, can this jacket make you forget all about the price tag in favor of many warm winters to come? We’ve got some thoughts.

 This needs to be a larger, more robust snap. Second and most importantly, at least the last two bottom panels of the coat interior have absolutely no down or insulation whatsoever. Hits but misses

The front zipper is really tricky to close and I always need to take off the gloves in order to do so. It’s annoying… Also, the inner pocket is too shallow and my cell or cards keep falling out. I always keep it closed, but in stores where you need to open it to get the cards then bend to pick up the stuff you just bought, everything just falls out…my cell broke this way… Considering the price, the design should be better.
