 Just remember guys, if you're running a benchmark in a much cooler environment, you're probably gonna get results which are 5 to 6 degrees better. So the next talking point is the Wi-Fi and actually to my surprise, it was performing quite well. Now in ideal circumstances, the board enclosed in Argon Neo was performing nearly identical to a naked Raspberry Pi. So I took both boards to another room to simulate a typical use case scenario with some furniture and walls obstructing Wi-Fi signal

 Now, it uses two magnets to neatly snap on to the case itself. The middle part is also made out of aluminium and it acts as a heatsink. You'll find the labels for 4GPIO header and also labels for adapters for camera and display port. There is a small, tiny slot for the Raspberry Pi camera module if you want to use it, but you're going to be facing it in a one direction as there is no attached hinge to angle the camera the way you want

I read all the reviews and got this case, thinking it could replace my flirc after I got a Poe+ hat. There are a couple of capacitors under the hat that needs you to tilt this to get all the pins inside the hat while the other side is raised. I got a riser for the gpio pins and that helped except now the magnetic top won’t close, even if I remove the fan. And the hat heats up so much there’s no point closing the top cover

 Inside the box you get the case itself, you get some screws and you'll get a thermal pad. The case makes direct contact with the CPU and the RAM for passive cooling. Argon 40 really put a lot of work into this case because the cutouts are spot-on. The base of the case is plastic and there are cutouts for ventilation

 So what's great about the Neo is that a section of the top plate is removable. This gives you access to the GPIO pins, power over ethernet hat pins, the Pi camera port and the display port. There's also a section above the USB ports to mount the Pi camera and to make things easier all of the pins are labeled. Now before we get into assembly I want to show you the Argon 1 fan hat

 We're on Raspbian Buster and to test the CPU we're going to use the program stress. So here's what we got. The first test we had the fan head with the top plate removed and from a cold boot idling for 10 minutes we had an average temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius

 If you decide to use the fan head you will lose access to the camera port so just keep that in mind. With that out of the way let's put this all together. So now that we have the case put together I'm going to show you how to install the custom script from Argon 40. Tried attaching the plastic bottom cover to the metal base but none of the 6 supplied screws are long enough to grab the threads in the mounting holes next to the GPIO pins. All of the screws appear to be the same M2.5 x 6mm, but none of them are actually 6mm long. I measured all of them and each and every one is less than 5

 I already have some thermal pads attached to some stuff here. But I just want to quickly go through the installation. Now, with this little cartridge that you can put in SSD, there is an adapter in that top shell that you plug in. But essentially, this thing is really easy to put together

 And with how it's designed, I just think it does an excellent job. So either way you go, I really don't think you're making a bad choice. It's just going to be up to preference, right? The NESPi case is a nice looking case. It has that aesthetic that people like and the way it's situated kind of makes things a little nicer when you have this set up

 I ran this without the cartridge in there. But if the carts in there, it's going to block a little bit more of that ventilation could possibly generate more heat. Now, since I haven't been able to test it with an SSD, I can't vouch for any increase in temperature, but I would just assume there would be. Now, going to the Argon Neo case, which, like I said, I have been using this thing nonstop since I've got it

 And yeah, it was about an 11 degree Fahrenheit difference as far as the low and high with the top off versus the top on. Now, my concern comes in with if you're in a hotter climate like I am and with this case being designed to use an SSD with that cartridge, there's some ventilation from where the SSD cartridge would go that if there's no cart in there, yeah, you're going to get a little bit more ventilation. I ran this without the cartridge in there. But if the carts in there, it's going to block a little bit more of that ventilation could possibly generate more heat

The BEST Raspberry Pi 4 Case? Retroflag NESPi 4 Versus Argon Neo! Review & Comparison!

 The force with which I had to press on the boards to get them to pop into place contributed to a moment of terror after everything was in place and I tried to power it on; there is a bit of a chicken or the egg problem with their power switch - you must download and run a bash script in order for the power switch to work correctly, but you must power the RPI up in order to do so. Took some random pushing of the power button for random times/patterns before it finally condescended to apply juice to the board. Once the script had been downloaded and executed it works nicely. I really like this case, it is much more solidly built than any others I have used and its relocation of connections to only one side of the case makes it easier to route cables to the RPI

 Disappointed in the total project because the heatsink properties and temps are so good and no other case offers GPIO access, but this quality is inexcusable.

 See the pictures, the plastic cracked within seconds, and the screw near the Ethernet port did not tighten at all without a lot of force, the opening was not properly drilled.  Again, I assembled this with practically clean room and gloves and the plastic still cracked within moments from simply assembling it, and one of the screws barely held. Disappointed in the total project because the heatsink properties and temps are so good and no other case offers GPIO access, but this quality is inexcusable.

Metal/heatsink is great, the plastic and screws are terrible.

5c, so kinda warm. This is with no fan and the lid on, just for testing purposes. I love my Argon One case, and the Neo is OK for $15, but not 5 star quality or design.
