A little bit muddy. A great performance though today and it's reinforced the views I had before about the Metaspeed Sky.

I ran the Manchester marathon on Sunday in the Metaspeed Sky and let me say, what a shoe!. I was touch and go about if I could do the race or not following a bad run of injury’s before and during my training block but felt confident enough to have a go and I’m glad I did. I managed a 03:08:16. My strategy for the race was to run it fairly evenly paces at around the 7:10 per mile mark, due to not doing many speed sessions and loosing 8 or so weeks, this pace felt good and familiar so I decided to go with it.

They feel faster than shoes like the Adizero Pro and the Endorphin Pro, but they don't feel as fast as the Metaspeed Sky. Stability is a little better than the Endorphin Speed, but not significantly so. In my opinion, these are superior to the Adios 6 and Adizero Pro in every capacity. The shoe is advertised for shorter distances, but I would have absolutely no problem lacing these up for a marathon (assuming I can figure out the hot spot issue).

Nr 2: Asics Metaspeed Sky (comfy, good grip, stable, not as bouncy as VF Next%, lower drop). Nr 3: Endorphin Pro 2 (comfy, nice rocker, stable, a bit heavy).

It's breathable, stretchy, and doesn't add or take away from the run. H Plate - I didn't feel a plate at any pace. I noticed it slightly when I took sharp turns - almost like some of the newer cars that put you back in your lane if you swerve a little - definitely helps with the stability the midsole may cause for some - and a slight pop when I ran up hills. Overall, this is a wonderful, wonderful shoe and it looks way better in person.

That being said, I will say that slower runners would do well with erring on the softer shoes (Metaspeed Sky, NB RC Elite 2, Vaporfly Next%) over the firmer shoes, given the longer time on feet and the increased comfort of the softer foams. If you are wanting a more conventional shoe, the Endorphin Speed (albeit with a nylon plate) is a great more cost effective choice, as are the Asics Magic Speed.

The Metaspeed Sky are one of the best available in my opinion. I've tried essentially all of them. I'd say the top tier is VF Next%, Metaspeed Sky, RC Elite V2, and Deviate Nitro Elite for me. The next tier would be Endorphin Pro, RC Elite V1, Adios Pro, and Metaspeed Edge.
