Nice boot, fitting between a lite hiker and heavier hiking boot

I purchased a pair of Asolo Men's Falcon GV Hiking Boots in March 2021 and I have been quite disappointed, especially at the price point.  Specifically, my boots squeak every time I take a step, which is very irritating when in otherwise quiet nature. One of the lace loops is beginning to show signs of wear and I find the ankle support quite underwhelming. I roll my ankle in these more than any other hiking boot I have had

 The cheap boots that I had in basic training had a better foot bed than these. Had I not gotten rid of the box and bag I would have returned them for lack of comfort.

 The insoles they come with are a cheap then wool blend insole. I have since replaced the insoles, even with nice and soul of the foot bed is very hard. I wanted a little lighter boot than the Fugitive GTX which I had been wearing through.  The Falcon GV are comfortable out of the box.  It feels more like a mid cut boot, which is good for my uses.  I'm still not sold on the Vibram Megagrip compound, since I find it slippery on wet surfaces

I bought these a month ago, broke them in on 2 short hikes and then took them out for a 6 miler. Initially they seemed narrow in the heel and wide in the toes, but they fit fine after breaking them in. They are quite light, and have good support. Only complaint is that the laces that come with them are super tiny

Good Boots

Bought these to gain a little ankle support after three pairs of hiking shoes in a row. These do a great job of being supportive yet not overkill for most of my hikes. I’m usually out for 10+ miles at a time and these have been up to the task. I only subtracted a star due to a hot spot on the back of one heel early on

I have a pair of fugitive gtx that I love but wanted something lighter to use from time to time.  These boots are very sharp looking and fit me great..
