 There may be some applications where the AMD CPU will catch up with the Intel one, but I can't find it. The performance hit when running on battery is an even bigger issue.

Look for any of the newest models that use the 11th gen Intel chips if you want the best performance.

I was seriously disappointed in the performance of the CM5 and the Ryzen 5 processor. I even opened 4 windows with the Octane 2 benchmark running - the Intel was still faster. There may be some applications where the AMD CPU will catch up with the Intel one, but I can't find it. The performance hit when running on battery is an even bigger issue

It is 79,000 yen (around $850 U.S) and it will serve my purpose of having a reliable chromebook for a least 5 year or more. Plus the I could also play games on it as well as web browsing etc. 

Before I buy, Any advice ??

 on other Google products. Yes, this portion of the review is likely not going to be limited to the Flip CM5, and that's why the review is docked to only 3 stars and not 2. In addition, I'm still able to use browser-based Google Drive, but it still shouldn't be any kind of issue. But shouldn't the baseline be that Google apps run seamlessly on Google OSes (Android and Chrome)? Forgive me for expecting Google products to interact well with each other

 As such, when my old word processor laptop finally breathed its last symbolic breath, I opted for the switch. Unfortunately, however, my first impressions ~2 weeks in are not particularly high. Before making the purchase, I appropriately did my research. During that time, I was continually thrown back at how low basic performance specs, only to be assuaged by (sponsored, bought and likely fake) tech reviews of how Chrome OS doesn't need all the fancy schmancy high RAM and CPU processing power because
