 Now, with this turntable, I'm going to be using the cr3 ltd multimedia monitors and i'm going to be using the RCA cable that came with the turntables packaging, I'm going to connect red to red and white to white from the power monitor and I'm going to connect. It to the turntable in the same manner red to red white, to white and also on the back of this turntable, I set the switch to the line option instead of the phone no option and I think I'm set if all goes well, it really wasn't that Hard and the first record, I'm gon na play on this bad boy is Whitney Houston. Let'S see how this turns out I'll, let you know, if is plan, the way is supposed to [ Music ], hey y'all, if you're looking for a turntable, this is the bomb. I can't believe how great it sounds

 Our platter assembly looks really nice. Then we have our dust cover very important. Then we have the head shell with a cartridge or needle, and we have the counterweight assembly this little thing right here is the stylus cue light and we have our hinges for the dust cover and finally, our PSD resistance, our turntable chassis. Now, as I'm recording this video, I'm setting this up for the first time, I've never had a turntable of this scale or magnitude

Excellent manual turntable but cartridge seems terrible shrill.

 There'S a lip, an overhang on the top of the plinth of the 120x and you're sort of scrambling. A little bit to try and connect everything. Now, that's just the one hit, and it's a small thing, but it's there. The fluence is a lot easier to connect in terms of putting your cables into the rear, rca sockets

 So, as you can see, all of these turntables all try and find a particular niche somewhere they can sell their turntables from and because of that, as the old saying goes, you pays your money and it takes your choice literally in this case, for a 250 pounds. Turntable which compromise appeals mostly to you, do you want a hardcore, audiophile type 10 table as offered by rieger, or do you want a more feature-laden, rather friendly approach to turn table design? Well, if you do want the features - and you want that rather friendlier approach, then my personal choice to fill that particular slot is the audio technica 120 x for the price for 250 pounds. The 120x offers a superb blend of features and sound quality, and i don't hesitate at all in recommending it to you and that's it folks.  So this sound stage is pretty busy and it's going to take a decent turn table to work. Everything out and not become overly muddled. Now before we go any further, i gave the internal phono amplifier a quick, listen and it's fine, it's okay! It'S not amazing! I wouldn't rely on it. I think if you bought the 120x and you've used all your budget and you ain't got any more cash it'll do for now

 Reach from the 120x was superior, but the whole dynamic range from top to bottom from the highest to the lows, was greater. I felt bass itself felt rather more organic. Now i mentioned the bite from the acoustic guitar strum earlier on, and the raft of information around that simple motion. There was much more information around this area from the 120x, the fluence, well it nodded towards the acoustic guitar strums, but it never dwelt upon it

A modest set-up that leaves budget for digging through record crates to find things you love.

Not quite good enough for vintage off-speed 78s

 It does have a hydraulic dampened. Lift control which i found does make it easier when you're putting the stylus onto the record, but still you have to manually, lift up the stylus and place it on the record. I did not find this to be a bad thing, because automatic turntables have more things that can go wrong and break, but with manual turntables, there's less moving parts, there's less things you have to worry about. Repairing also sound quality with manual turntables is way better than those that are automatic

 Not only is this record player built impeccably, it also just has a really cool style. In my opinion, i opted for the silver version, but this turntable also comes in black. I just love the feel of this record player from turning it on to selecting what kind of record i'm listening to from lifting up the stylus from even putting the record on the feeling, and look of this turntable is just something i cannot correctly put into words. The amount of thought that went into its design is just incredible: not only are there cool lights to set the mood, but there's also lights that are very useful

 But this record player in particular, is all i think gon na need to really enjoy and love the sound of vinyl again, if you're interested in this audio technica record player, i have an amazon link below, so i really hope this video helped you out.  Build quality, is a dream to listen to is compatible with every record size and can convert your vinyl to digital. If you so choose, this turntable is great if you're getting into vinyl, or you just really want that upgrade sure you could spend a thousand dollars for a record player. Record Player Review - Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB

A clear step up from the Shure and Ortofon cartridges, with the top end clarity AT is known for. More "exciting" a presentation than the Grado, but also found some surface noise the others didn't.

Understanding this sub is "budget" audiophile, thought I'd run some less expensive MM cartridges through my deck.  The least expensive is a Shure M44 that came on an old free table.  Most expensive is a still affordable $120 Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN.

Test track was "Famous Last Words" from the "Living With Ghosts" 10-year anniversary release of MCR's "Welcome to the Black Parade".

First up was the Shure M44 with a Tonar Elliptical stylus.  Best description - thumpy.  Lots of bottom end, but dull in the midrange, and missing top end detail.  I can see why this is (was) such a popular cartridge for DJs.  Cost - $20CDN for the stylus.

Second up was an Ortofon Omega.  Suddenly much more mid detail, with a "normal" amount of bass.  Top end was good but not overly sharp.  Excellent value for the money, but did get congested in the mids when the music for more complicated.  Cost - $35CDN.

Third up was a Grado Prestige Green.  Completely different presentation than the other two cartridges, with an overall cleaner sound.  Has the Grado "house sound" which has warm mids, solid bass, and some rolled off top end.  A very pleasant and listenable cartridge, but can hum on a DD turntable.  Cost - $99CDN (sale).

Last up was the Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN, the only cartridge with a nude elliptical diamond.  A clear step up from the Shure and Ortofon cartridges, with the top end clarity AT is known for.  More "exciting" a presentation than the Grado, but also found some surface noise the others didn't.  Cost - $119 (sale).

Each of the cartridges brought something different to the table.  Both vintage and inexpensive cartridges like the Shure and Ortofon provide plenty of value, and are great for a starter or budget system.  It wasn't tested here, but the Audio Technica AT-3600L is also a great budget cartridge, especially for classic rock.

However, spending the extra scratch to move up to the Grado or AT is certainly worth the spend.  Although not part of this shootout, an Ortofon OM-10 would also be worth the jump in price if you're looking for something a bit more dynamic than the Grado but not as exciting as the AT.

Cheap Cartridge SHOOTOUT!

One fatal flaw

 One that was going to sound naff so after a load of research was both doing this one's the one that kept coming out on top. It has great reviews, the performance, the looks, the design, the sound quality audio technica hats off to you. You'Ve done a brilliant, brilliant job with this. This is such a good bit of kit

 Now i know that this stylus the weight of this that i want to set this is at two. So now we've got that on zero. We can turn the whole lot against the whole weight again over to go all two way in and that's then set. We can now lock that back in [, Music, ] and then on here on the anti-skating control, because we've set this to two

 You don't need to get a top of the range high five for this to sound great, of course, granted. If you do have a decent ifi use it it will sound better, but what i'm getting at is the prams on these are brilliant. You don't need to spend even more money to make this sound good out of the box. This sounds good and if you're worried about the preamp in it from the older model, they have changed it now, because the older model there was reports that some of them they were fine
