 Hello, this is a quick follow-up to my Audio-Technica AT3600L review. The frequency response is not too bad, but there's a rise centered around 13-14 kHz, we can see it here, and it's about 3.5-4 dB. So let's have a look at what effect changes the loading will have on the frequency response

Audio-Technical AT3600L Review Follow Up

Honestly rather than investing in getting that cartridge to work I would recommend getting a better one. The Ortofon OM5E (or if you're really strapped the Omega 1e) or even the Audio Technica AT3600L would be better than the groove tool.

I had an Ortofon 2mm bronze, but the tip of the stylus broke off and due to budget I got a numark groove tool at the local guitar center, and the damn thing isn’t heavy enough to provide any downforce. I taped a penny to it and it works, is better fix for this issue? Thanks in advance! (project DC)

 The ATN3600L gave me a boost in the low end with richer bass coming out of my Polk loudspeakers. The expanded range allowed me to even make some adjustments to my EQ settings to compensate for the improved frequency response. This is a major improvement over the Sony factory stylus.

 The package arrived in two days and I installed the new stylus inside of one minute. My records never sounded better. The ATN3600L gave me a boost in the low end with richer bass coming out of my Polk loudspeakers. The expanded range allowed me to even make some adjustments to my EQ settings to compensate for the improved frequency response

A Big Upgrade to Sound Quality

The model itself was a bit of a gamble, a Nikabe T2. Apparently a store-brand player but using an Audio-Technica AT3600L pickup, built in RIAA-amp, output as either phono or RCA (I'm doing RCA for now). But it's doing a damn good job!. My dad's coming over next week with his old collection, so it's time for that to get dusted off!

Took a plunge today, almost completing my "retro U-turn"!

Needle is ok as long as it’s on a good turntable.

The speakers develop tight bass and treble, and the Rega carbon stylus picks up so much detail I'd missed. I still haven't had the amp more than a third of the way up as that's plenty loud enough.

Gotta love new turntable (well, whole setup) day!

..  UPDATE 1/19/2014:  Had time to test this stylus out. Immediate difference in sound

 Took me seconds to realize this when a record played. Biggest difference between this stylus verses the stock one that came with the turntable is in the mids/vocals. This stylus plays so clear! Very noticeable difference in sound. The stylus that came with my AT-LP60 turntable sounded muddy and the vocals weren't as clear

Recommend Turntables for Beginners

 The housing will click right into place. There should be no gap at all, between the top of the stylus housing, and the bottom of the tone arm head, when the stylus is seated correctly. With a little practice, this entire stylus replacement process should take like 30 seconds, or less. I purchased this stylus with the turntable, just so I could do a sound comparison, and it is definitely worth the extra few dollars to upgrade the stylus

This is a great sounding stylus. I recently purchased a new Audio Technica AT-LP60 Turntable, and while the stock stylus sounded good, this replacement stylus definitely sounds great. It is definitely an upgrade over the stylus that comes with the turntable. This stylus really brings out the mids, and highs, in music, while firming up the low end

Great Sounding Stylus!

I paid roughly that for an Audio Technica and I absolutely love mine. Before I had one of those little briefcase one's from Walmart and it was enough to get me hooked into vinyl. I bought the AT-LPGO with the Bluetooth option and it's been absolutely amazing.

Is this a good deal at $125 bucks used?
