The Cartridge has excellent sound. However, it came with the wrong hardware (nuts and bolts) and I had to call Audio-Technica on the phone to get new hardware. After a few days it arrived and I set the whole thing up properly and it sounds great on my A.T

 The elliptical diamond does pick up more noise, but also feels more "live" than the ML, which can be a bit laid back in presentation. This virtue is also evident in comparison to the Ortofon 2M blue, which to my ears loses a direct contest with the 530, the blue lacking the punch of the AT cart as well as possessing a narrower sound. The EN is well rounded a fantastic generalist cartridge that can really crank out speed when it needs to. Like the ML, there's no audible IGD or added sibilance on this cart

I've had great experiences with the VM540ML so I decided to give the EN a try as well. Not as detailed as the microline (duh), but the 530 retains the big soundstage and excellent separation.  Here on the EN, there's a very distinct analog sound signature (and noise level), so there's no mistaking the medium - but that's not necessarily a bad thing! Fully endorsed for the price, a sleeper in the AT lineup.

High speed analog sound - an underappreciated gem

I'm loving the AT VM530EN!

 Paying $50 would be overpriced. I adjusted it using the Stevenson protractor to make sure, but, the results were the same: flat low-quality sound. I really regret purchasing this (thanks to an abundance of positive reviews here), and having heard how feeble it sounds I did more research and learned of many other superior (and less expensive) models such as the Nagaoka MP-110, as well as other ones by Audio-Technica. Mind you, I have not compared it to these other ones yet

You'll regret it...

I have been testing a few carts over the last month having recently upgraded my tonearm. I've had Ortofon Red & Blue, Nagaoka MP110 and MP150 and this cart, for me at least, this is the one I prefer. It's got great detail, copes well with old and new vinyl, doesn't have too much personality, which I like, with firm bass and great separation. It is a little more energetic than the Nagaokas, which are warmer, some could say it's a bit 'bright' but I'll see how it sounds after it's been run in

Probably the best cart in this price range

 This cartridge is no exception in the improvement in quality. It is head and shoulders above the AT 120Eb in terms of level of detail, musicality and overall sound picture. Yes it is expensive, but the performance it delivers make it worth it.

I bought this as a replacement to an Audio Technica AT120Eb. I've recommisioned an old Heybrook TT2 turntable and have been buying successively more expensive cartridges, which a marked improvement with each purchase. This cartridge is no exception in the improvement in quality. It is head and shoulders above the AT 120Eb in terms of level of detail, musicality and overall sound picture

I read the reviews and made my purchase accordingly. At first, after careful setting up I was disappointed, the cartridge was clearly precise but lacked much bottom end. However having had it working for only a day I can't believe the improvement. As it is wearing in the sound is opening up
