Like most Beats products, these well-built headphones come in several stylish colorways. They also have an ANC system that can block out a good amount of noise. Although they have some trouble reducing bass range noise like bus engines, they can block out office chatter well. Beats isn't a brand that comes to mind when I think of "quality audio", but these do actually sound pretty good for what they are — everyday headphones for listening in the real world, not some expensive high-end stuff you'd listen to in a quiet studio. That said, I wish I could wear them all day, but these are just too small for my head. The Solo Pro does have some adjustments, but the overall tension is just too strong with my big head. (And no, I swear I don't have an abnormally large head — I'm about a 7 1/4" hat size!) I've never had an issue with any other headphones out there, but even after giving these a try for six months, my ears and head hurt after about 30 minutes of use

Great sound but poor fit

disregard price, I value my headphones greatly since I run and gym everyday. I prefer quality over saving a few dollars.

Underwhelming

PSB M4U 8 wanted similar sound with Bluetooth. Beats solo pro wanted something that was seamless with Apple for on the go. Apple AirPod max wanted good sound on the go with anc over ear in apple ecosystem.

Monoprice M1570:  All around my favorite, beautiful timbre once EQ’d, comfortable, solid blend of technical capability and forgivingness for subpar recordings.  That nice thick planar ‘wall of sound’. 

Beyerdynamic T1 Gen 2:  Best imaging I’ve ever heard from any headphones, nice rich tonality, great capability to bring out details.  Light and comfy. 

Sennheiser HD6XX:  Relaxing easy listening headphones. 

Koss ESP 95/X:  Detail and speed champs

Bose QC25:  ANC without the wireless nonsense.  Great (and only) for use on planes. 

Focal Elear:  Fun dynamic capability, great built quality. 

Sony MDR-SA1000:  Really unique presentation from being ultra-open.  

Blon BossHifi B8: I keep them at work for when I have to do video conferencing/Zoom meetings, online classes.  They’re cheap enough I don’t really care if anything happens to them. 

Ones I don’t use anymore and need to get around to selling:

Fostex TH-X00 Ebony:  Super bass capability, but I prefer the way planars do bass. 

Audeze EL-8 Titanium:  Originally bought them for my flying cans, but the Bose are better for this. 

AKG K553:  Super flat and sound great, but I don’t have a need for closed backs. 

Grado PS1000e:  Bought them to try out the Grado thing, and they’re great for that, but too much money tied up in them for something I pull out maybe once or twice a year. 

KLH Ultimate One:  Pads are a bit small for my preference.  

Blue MoFi:  Don’t need closed backs, clamp is too tight for me, thought I’d use them on the go but I don’t. 

Hifiman HE4XX:  Since I have the 1570s I don’t need these. 

Koss Portapros:  Bought them because of all of the memes. They sound nice, but I don’t like on-ears.  Probably to cheap to bother selling though. 

JVC SZ2000:  Super-thunderous subwoofers-strapped-to-your-ears bass, but the rest of the FR is ass-like.  I either need to find a great EQ profile for them or sell them to a hip-hop-head. 

Audio Technica AD500X:  Beautiful midrange but congested in the midbass and below.  I’d like to get a better AT, maybe the AD2000/2000X/5000 that has better technical capability.  

Beyerdynamic T90:  Now that I have the T1s I don’t need these. 

A handful of random IEMs:  I hate wearing IEMs.

Sennheiser fan, I guess I have stax too. And the awesome Audio Technica OG-AD2000 

HD800S because it simply is a headphone that images and stages better and more naturally than anything else I've heard, it also has incredible tuning and overall doesn't have any massive weaknesses. It's all different levels of strengths. 

The AD2000 is my funphone, it is unashamedly coloured and it doesn't care, it sounds awesome.  Mids for daaaays.

I use the OG SR-Lambda the most out of my stax lineup, it has all the strengths without any of the obvious tonal whackness that the rest of the stax I've tried has. It's simply awesome and the best overall lambda. Overall worse than the HD800S but it's a different flavour. The SR-Lambda is like, the best "normal" headphone done right, while HD800S, does HD800S things. Different moods. 

I own many other headphones, but none see nearly as much use as these three. The time is split about 80% with the HD800S, and then the 20% is split evenly across the OG SR-Lambda and the AD2000.

Wanted something good, but not crazy expensive to have at work, and block out conversations/noise.  Coworker who had his own studio recommended the Sonys.  Price was right, liked the sound and never looked for something else.  I wore the pads out, and put some microfiber memory foam replacements, and I like them even more.  

They're not just good, they are good enough, for me.

Sennheiser HD 800 S: My "new and shiny" that I concluded I've finally settled on after trying several headphones that weren't quite it for me. I love these for the detail and the soundstage that sounds open and physical in a way that no other headphones I've tried are able to match. It sounds like they basically give me a CAD exploded view of all my music and place instruments in a room around me with true 360º imaging, to the point where that sometimes I get that tingly feeling when something's behind you when they place some instruments *precisely* behind me with precision that lets me pinpoint them basically to the millimetre. These make me feel like I'm at a concert or something, I'm absolutely in love with them. I also find them extremely comfortable, surpassing my AKG K7XX's even, as they're so light and large.

Sennheiser HD 600: These were my daily driver and "ol' reliable" for like over a year. I always appreciated the natural tonality they have and got very used to producing on them; probably going to keep them around as more relaxing cans to use to listen to music in the background as HD 800 S's can sound very intense, as well as just a really familiar reference. I always found the soundstage to sound rather constrained though, which is partially what sent me on my journey to upgrade.

AKG K7XX: I got them as my first headphone upgrade from my AKG K271 MKII's that I got as my first "flat" pair of headphones that were eventually quite long in the tooth and basically falling apart. I'd come back to them every now and then when I craved more soundstage than what the HD 600's could offer, but would ultimately never really end up using them as my main pair as the treble is honestly a rollercoaster on them unlike the smooth treble of the HD 600's. I don't really crave them much after getting HD 800 S's as I'd only really use them for the soundstage and the 800's easily beat them in that regard. They're also crazy comfortable and were my most comfortable pair until I got the 800's.

AKG K271 MKII's: I don't actually have these in my flair as I never listen to them anymore, as they just don't really do anything better than my other headphones, but they were my first "reference" pair that I got back in Christmas 2014 to produce music with after coming from V-shaped consumer cans and served me well for both producing and listening all the way until I got the K7XX's in like 2017. As such, they'll always have some sentimental value to me. Near the end though, the headband ended up basically falling apart though and the velour pads got gross so I had to use the crappy vinyl ones.

(Monolith M1570: I put these in parentheses as I'm going to be returning them, since I just got them to audition, but they're quite fun albeit not perfect. They have a surprisingly good soundstage which I'd put on par with AKG K7XX's, albeit not in the same way, as they have more depth but less width extension. It kind of sounds like a bubble around your head which reminds me of how people tended to describe LCD-X's. Really nice, fast and extended bass that makes listening to bass music super fun, as well as non-fatiguing upper midrange. Not the best slam I've heard, but it's for sure there. However, I really can't stand the treble on them as it's sibilant but also poorly extended at the same time, and they're basically a neck weight. I actually got a sore neck using them during long sessions and had to get my AKG's to take a break from wearing them; they're heavier than LCD-X's and the headband is a Focal ripoff except with no clamp so it's basically just 700 grams of dead weight on your head while the cups float on your ears and wobble around if you move at all. Why...)

AirPods Pro: I use these on the go. I'm honestly still pleasantly surprised by how good they sound sometimes; they're very balanced and easy-going without much fatigue or peakiness at all. I find them very comfortable for in-ears too due to the pressure valve they have, and of course they work great with my iPhone. They're perfect for what I need them for which is listening to music while out and about or just walking around the house. That said, while the ANC can be really handy, I honestly think it would be much more effective with foam tips and I have one of the weird pairs that need replacement due to buzzing noises.

<p>AKG K271 MKII&#39;s: I don&#39;t actually have these in my flair as I never listen to them anymore, as they just don&#39;t really do anything better than my other headphones, but they were my first &quot;reference&quot; pair that I got back in Christmas 2014 to produce music with after coming from V-shaped consumer cans and served me well for both producing and listening all the way until I got the K7XX&#39;s in like 2017. As such, they&#39;ll always have some sentimental value to me. Near the end though, the headband ended up basically falling apart though and the velour pads got gross so I had to use the crappy vinyl ones.</p>

<p>(Monolith M1570: I put these in parentheses as I&#39;m going to be returning them, since I just got them to audition, but they&#39;re quite fun albeit not perfect. They have a surprisingly good soundstage which I&#39;d put on par with AKG K7XX&#39;s, albeit not in the same way, as they have more depth but less width extension. It kind of sounds like a bubble around your head which reminds me of how people tended to describe LCD-X&#39;s. Really nice, fast and extended bass that makes listening to bass music super fun, as well as non-fatiguing upper midrange. Not the best slam I&#39;ve heard, but it&#39;s for sure there. However, I really can&#39;t stand the treble on them as it&#39;s sibilant but also poorly extended at the same time, and they&#39;re basically a neck weight. I actually got a sore neck using them during long sessions and had to get my AKG&#39;s to take a break from wearing them; they&#39;re heavier than LCD-X&#39;s and the headband is a Focal ripoff except with no clamp so it&#39;s basically just 700 grams of dead weight on your head while the cups float on your ears and wobble around if you move at all. Why...)</p>

<p>AirPods Pro: I use these on the go. I&#39;m honestly still pleasantly surprised by how good they sound sometimes; they&#39;re very balanced and easy-going without much fatigue or peakiness at all. I find them very comfortable for in-ears too due to the pressure valve they have, and of course they work great with my iPhone. They&#39;re perfect for what I need them for which is listening to music while out and about or just walking around the house. That said, while the ANC can be really handy, I honestly think it would be much more effective with foam tips and I have one of the weird pairs that need replacement due to buzzing noises.</p>

Bose AE2w: my first bluetooth headphone. The most comfortable headphone I ever owned, very light and the only headphones I can wear for hours without getting uncomfortable. Bought it because it is wireless and that was very cool back then. 

Audeze LCD2: bought them 10 years ago, because I thought they looked pretty cool. Still need to burn them in, at home I usually just use my speakers. But since I spent some time here, I’m pretty sure I’ll buy a dedicated headphone amp (and a portable) soon and start listening sessions while reading books (2 flies!) or commuting. 

Sony WH1000XM3: bought them for commuting, like them but I wish they were half as comfy as the Bose. A bit too heavy I can only wear them for about an hour, which is probably long enough for my delicate ears. 

Sennheiser: in the 90’s I owned a couple of Sennheisers in the lower end (<€150, can’t remember model names), because they sounded better at that price than the competition imo and I didn’t have a lot of money. The brand has a place in my heart though and I’m pretty sure I’ll buy the HD800 or its follow-up. 

Focal: have some JMlab speakers (focal) and looking at the Utopia’s for home or the Stellia’s for commuting. Everybody is talking about the Clears, for some reason. Maybe those are better, need to look into it. 

Grado/Hifiman/Beyer: these look all pretty cheap to me. Okay, didn’t have most in my hands and I know they’ve got excellent models, but design is very important and some brands are just not in my street.

DT240 Pro: For my ears they seem to have good base extension and I can definetly tell the difference between sub bass and bass.

KZ ZS10 Pro: Originally, I wanted to run those out of my iPod Nano, but it had too much hiss with those headphone, so I run them with the Apple Donge-DAC on my phone. To me, they are great commuting headphones and they make my music feel alive.

Airpods 2: I got them because they have no cables and they are still great for podcasts and video calls.

The headphones look good, sound very good, crazy sound stage and imaging, very durable, low sound leakage( I can use them at office even), and they are great for gaming. They are also very power efficiency, so it works great with mobile amps. Lastly, they are EXTREMELY comfortable. I can and do use them for 8h shifts with very small breaks and they never get uncomfortable.

HD6XX - I've always liked Sennheiser, and I got the 6XX because everyone said it's a must have and a great headphone for the price - and it really is. I really like it for music, gaming and videos, and while I would like a bit more bass at times, that can be addressed with a bit of EQ. And they're comfortable for long listening sessions. I've had a few other headphones (Custom One Pro, HE4XX), but sold them because I always just ended up picking the 6XX anyway. I recently tried the LCD 2, and it didn't convince me over the 6XX eithee.

WH1000XM3 - I wanted a noise cancelling cans for commute and office. They're alright, but I think they give me headaches. They're nice because I can walk around during online meetings.

Tin T2 - picked them up because of good reviews, I like the sound, I don't mind the treble. I use them in the office a lot when I can't stand the Sony ones anymore.

KZ ZS10 Pro - pretty much same as T2 (reviews, office), but they have a bit punchier bass and are a bit more fun. Less detail than T2 though. 

HD518 - I got these years ago to use with my PC, great sound, but have no use for them since I got the 6XX so I have them to my son/wife to use on their PC.

I also have KZ ATE and ZS3 with a Bluetooth cable, but I rarely use them, because I prefer the T2 or ZS10 Pro.

They do not have amazing details, but when they are pulgged to my hip-dac using Beyerdynamic T5 v2 cable, they can give me this amazing feeling. I haven't felt it with Sundara or even hd660s. Why do you have the headphone(s) that you have? What do you love about them?

These beats we’re mediocre. The sound sounded maybe as good as my AirPods. They were pretty uncomfortable also. The one thing they were good at was how fast they paired to my devices

- Sennheiser HD600- For serious more analytical/  dedicated listening. I love the timbre.  
- Grado Hemp- Less focused listening, more rocking out. I love how pure enjoyable they are to listen to.
- Beats Solo PRO- I listen to a lot of pop and hip hop with these. The headphone follows the harman target pretty close, and i like the bass response of that for certain types of music. 
- Grado SR225x- I like to listen to these as a change of pace from the more neutral profiles of the previous 3. It’s bright as hell, and it’s fun to listen to. Lead instruments sound like lasers. Reminds me of a live concert
- Apple AirPods Pro- In my pocket daily. I watch youtube videos, listen to podcasts, and listen to music while I’m out of the home.
