 Spyderco have just have that there's something special about this particular knife above and beyond. Maybe some of the other ones - and I don't know for sure you know I'm not that not really into that much, but I trust Brian there's something about it. You know. Sometimes they just get things right, and things are just done perfectly well or close enough to perfect that they they just give you the fizz and you just enjoy them right

Why I'm Switching My Pocket Knife

So let's hear it. What are your unpopular knife opinions? Personally I think Rockstead Knives look like gas station knives.

 With all the negatives out of the way, I really do like this knife a lot. The blade shape is really beautiful, and it's very functional. I really prefer thumb holes over thumb studs, but these are done really well and sit right up against the handle so they can't snag on anything while the knife is getting taken in and out of your pocket. The axis lock for the most part is great, it's really fun to play with and anyone can flick out the blade with minimal effort

 I'm not a sharpening expert, but I would say the work needed is definitely above a novice sharpener's ability. This knife isn't a slicer. Because of the nature of the thin blade width and sabre grind, it's somewhat thick at the edge. With proper sharpening it's plenty sharp, but it doesn't have the same cutting ability of many other knives I own

 When I received the knife, the blade was off center so badly it rubbed up against the right scale. For whatever reason, the axis lock was failing to engage, so if the knife was flicked out, it rebounded off the stop pin and back into the handle. The edge grind was extremely obtuse and asymetrical, and was so dull I could saw into my arm without a scratch. I contacted benchmade and they didn't seem to care

TLDR: It feels great, I LOVE the weight and looks of carbon fiber but doesn't seem like its a good value.  I'm not a knife enthusiast or a collector, but I wanted something I could carry and forget its in my pocket for everyday tasks. I like premium products like carbon fiber and the idea behind S90v being a steel that keeps its "working edge" for longer periods of time. Overall I can't say i'm crazy about the product for the price

  - Finish of the blade has such a machined look with thin parallel lines vertically across the entire blade. I don't know if that intended but for cost of the blade it just doesn't look like a premium product.  - The blade when closed it is not centered, and I think it may touch the inside of the carbon fiber on the clip side as the deployment in my right hand is slower then when I deploy it in my left hand and i'm right handed. The bevel on the knife is larger on the face then it is on the back side, this maybe intended i'm not sure but I can image this causing some issues while sharpening the blade

I wanted to love this knife.

 Benchmade recommended to only purchase knifes from Authorized dealers/sellers. Amazon is neither a authorized retailer or dealer. As I’ve said confidently many times I feel strongly Amazon would never intentionally sale a fake item. A seller possibly would

 The lady from Benchmade also said with them not in hand she couldn’t say for 100% either way. The very first benchmade rep I contacted made me question the possibility of a counterfeit cause Amazon is not a authorized seller. Benchmade recommended to only purchase knifes from Authorized dealers/sellers. Amazon is neither a authorized retailer or dealer

You’re probably sick of these, but I’ve scoured and am totally overwhelmed. I’d appreciate any suggestions. Given the criteria, what would you choose? 

Looking for a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. It would be EDC, folding, left or ambidextrous, blade between 3.25-4.5 preferably a combo blade (?) with a budget of $250. Need something that can be opened with one hand sometimes using a glove, and it’s got to be a strong. 

He’s a full time farmer and rancher (winter is calving season) who is addicted to tools, Snap-On specifically. He has tool boxes on every piece of equipment, but uses freebie knives 🙄

I’d prefer American Made, but know that’s sometimes only partway possible. Benchmade’s political issues have kept me away thus far.
