 Let's do a little bit more precision work to cut off some of this outer bark maybe And then If you get a right angle it's easier usually to get feathers or curls And you can see we're going to be able to do that Quite easily with the With the crooked river and you can see i'm kind of pushing down and using that belly I find that's a good way To get some curls if you want to get a fire started And these are pretty wide i'll do some a little bit smaller ones coming up here Here's a look at my feather stick And obviously the crooked river is able to do that work quite well Let me offer some closing thoughts here on the crooked river first of all if you're looking for the number when you head over To the benchmade website 15080 is going to be your crooked river Knife line again the diamond wood and then the g10 handle you got two different options there The first thing i'll tell you broadly speaking is that it's a larger everyday carry or a larger knife overall When it comes to a folding knife So if you're someone who likes a smaller edc knife or just smaller folding knives in general This is probably not going to be the one for you I think if benchmade took this knife and basically, you know reduced its size by not a ton But by a little bit it would be even more popular than it is right now It has already been a very popular knife for them, but I think it could be even more popular The next thing i'll tell you is that it's usable in a variety of tasks I mean you've seen it do everyday carry type tasks. You've seen it do some outdoor tasks. Could you baton with it? Well based on its strength, I think you definitely could I wouldn't do that I tend away from doing any batoning on a folder if I really need to get into some dryer wood I definitely you know, I tend to chew into it using this type of method as opposed to batoning into it With a folding knife that is so that being said it's strong I wouldn't baton with it, but it's also going to be usable around camp, you know So doing those camp chores cutting up food preparing food those types of things and again the idea with that big belly You could certainly hold it like this if you need to do some Preparation on something that you're hunting something that you actually uh, you catch You could you could use it in that way quite easily as well the way I tend to operate with my everyday carry knives Is that you know unless i'm using them a ton in one day? For specific tasks, you know repeatedly i'll just touch it up a little bit Often and therefore I don't have to worry about taking it to a sharpener You know a little stropping on the knife and you're generally good to go and I think with this knife That's probably a good approach as well Just you know touch it up regularly as opposed to letting it get really worn down and then having to take it to a sharpener There are quite a few things I like about this knife. I would say your blade steel your aesthetics overall I just find it to be a really good looking knife Your function the versatility so on the downside I would say basically size weight is going to be too much for some people as far as an everyday carry knife And then your price point for some people spending over, you know, 150 bucks is just too much and I get that Um, if that's the case for you and you still want a bench mate I would highly recommend a griptilian I love those knives But if you're willing to spend the extra money and you want something that I think is going to offer you Some overall broader use and then uh, specifically, you know If you want to have an as an everyday carry and then outdoors camping hunting type knife This is something I would definitely look into so the crooked river from bench mate I've got links down below if you want to purchase one of these knives Purchasing them via amazon will always help support the everyday tactical vids channel So thanks in advance for that if you haven't done so already, please subscribe to everyday tactical vids Like us on facebook follow us on twitter

They're good, but they are priced very high when you look at what else is on the market. for like $40 you can get a ZT which is way more overbuilt, usually better blade steels, and still American made. Huge, nice looking. Would not buy at full price.

 It's a knife. You're gonna love for the rest of your life. Yada. Yada And maybe I am completely alone here and let's be real here me reviewing a four inch knife He's a lot like asking a squirrel to review the ergonomic comfort of a reclining sofa But take this with a grain of salt, but go handle it yourself That's kind of the important thing both for the quality control side and to see if you feel the same thing as if you pick This knife up and you like no that's great my hand then buy the freaking knife if you handle it You love it

 The other thing that the axis lock brings us here is the ambidextrousness This knife is completely ambidextrous. It is drilled for tip up a tip down carry on the right side I'm sorry It is drilled for tip up carry war there tip up carry on the right side of the left side There is no tip down option on this guy I'm not crying you might be but this knife because it's an axis lock is completely ambidextrous with ambidextrous studs a lefty We'll get the same experience of this knife as a righty. So that's nice price on this guy isn't honestly bad Um, it's 200 bucks, but that's a very large chunk of s30v an interesting design some titanium some nice little touches details here I I don't really feel like it Benchmade has made some pricing decisions I don't agree with but I don't really struggle with this guy given the size given everything here I feel like that's a fine price and so that's that's a okay And finally on the good side this particular knife is actually pretty good in terms of quality control Um that spades had some issues in that department But this one was given hand selected at a store by the previous owner But it is still nice to see a very well-tuned piece coming out of Benchmade here This has a nice kind of relatively false shut smooth action, even though it's not been used all that much So it'll get even smoother over time, but there's no blade play vertical or horizontal with that So that's very very good and I appreciate that and so all of that combined is the good of this guy It's this one's fine. Um, this is indeed a very nicely made knife It has a beautiful design and I think it's a nicely made tool It's a good honest cutting tool and that's that's great to me And indeed I think if you pick one of these guys up because you like the size design whatnot It will be a tool that will serve you well as would be the mini crooked river Which Benchmade is said is coming in the future Which I'm really looking forward to because this design at a more manageable size sounds incredible to me But the thing is to me at least this is a knife that I really did not enjoy using Carrying it was fine But using it just drove me a little bit nuts and I don't think this is actually about the size Is there are a lot of huge knives that I've loved I mean even right now on the table this guy the 452 is an incredible knife the Benchmade 710 another really really great piece But this guy in the middle the crooked river this just something crooked here

Maybe if your hand goes all the way up to here It's perfectly balanced

The Benchmade Crooked River Pocketknife: The Full Nick Shabazz Review

 I have a 20 dollar EDC knife that I've used for months now (Don't know the company that made the knife) but that knife is sturdy, heavy and opens very smoothly and effortlessly . Basically, for the price i sure hope this Crooked River holds up to my expectations when it comes to a good knife. For now, it seems like my 20 dollar EDC blows it out of the water.

 This is the first knife i spent serious money on, and i don't know, it doesn't really seem worth it. The knife is really light and just seems like it will fall apart after a few months of use. I have a 20 dollar EDC knife that I've used for months now (Don't know the company that made the knife) but that knife is sturdy, heavy and opens very smoothly and effortlessly . Basically, for the price i sure hope this Crooked River holds up to my expectations when it comes to a good knife

Lightweight

Strangely not a great knife, not even a very good knife, which falls well short of the mark the benchmade  made his set.  The pocket clip makes holding the knife uncomfortable to say the least. The locking mechanism on the one I received is next to impossible to release once the knife is deployed. I realize this is most likely a defect in this particular knife, but for the price point and the quality the benchmade normally put forward it is truly disappointing

 The grip even without the belt clip is not fantastic, it’s really not even that comfortable. Am returning the knife and will be switching to a different model. Would not recommend this knife to others, even without the obvious defect.

Not my favorite by a long shot.

 Disapointed to say the least. 2 stars on craftsmanship for the above explanation, I would give it 1 but the materials are great. 1 star for value since it does not function as intended. 5 stars for weight because it is light

The Axis Lock malfunctions

Decent knife but not sure it's worth the price. I could shave my arm with a decent amount of pressure but definitely wasn't as sharp out of box as some of these reviews claim. Granted I grew up whittling, so I can sharpen a knife pretty good. A few strokes on a stone, stropping on my leather boot and I could shave with light pressure but I could do that with a 60 dollar crkt
