BenQ EW3270U - 4K HDR Monitor Review

An excellent 4k monitor under budget. Samsung LC 28ru550 at 27k. More in description below. Stills from XSS games running at 1620p.

size is nice but picture quality lacks compared to other monitors

 Now you might be wondering how does this panel actually do when it comes to putting it to a calibrator. Well put on the sRGB mode and put through an i1 display pro calibrator, it hits 94.4% of the gamut coverage at 97.6% of the gamut volume, in other words it really is tailored to the sRGB standard

 You also want to bear in mind that you want this to fit in your desk space as you can see, it's pretty much just cut off at the top of my IKEA Freddy desk so just bear that in mind. Other than that, the build quality in terms of design wise looks pretty nice, the bezels are slightly chunky where the actual panel itself is behind the bezels so it just looks a little bit chunkier than it should be, I would have preferred a three sided borderless design but other than that the finish of it is quite nice and as I said before it's made out of plastic so it could be a little bit better. At the bottom over here you've got the BI plus sensor which is BenQ's way of adjusting the colour temperature depending on the time of day. This is quite useful if you want to reduce ice drain, not something I personally use but nevertheless always useful to have if you're sensitive to different sort of blue and light emissions

 Now, aside from all of that, let's cut the spec sheet talk for a moment and just discuss my general experience of using this monitor, particularly from a content creator's perspective. Firstly, I love using a monitor that is 4K in resolution. I know this might seem a little bit outdated and lots of you are probably already using 4K monitors, but up until this point, I've just been using either full HD or UHD monitors and I've never really had much of an issue with them. But now, ever since using this 4K panel for an extended period of time, I just cannot overstate how nice it is to see my 4K footage in its true resolution

4k monitor for gaming

Good color (viewed straight on) but extremely narrow viewing angle and poor uniformity

 The size and resolution are amazing and you can really get some nice colors out of this monitor. If you consume a lot of content and want to game at higher resolutions, this is definitely a great option for your needs. Games at 4K and HDR were stunning and same thing for Netflix shows that support the HDR spec. On the other hand, if you want to use it for content creation, a bit like I do as a YouTuber, then I would maybe go with an IPS panel instead

 And while I've been rocking a 27-inch 4K monitor for close to three years now, I do feel like it requires a bit of scaling to let you back away from it. And it doesn't offer some of the newest features such as HDR and a USB Type-C port. Well, that's something that a more recent and larger monitor would help with. And that will be the focus of today's video as we'll take a look at BenQ's EW3270U 32-inch VA 4K monitor

 The 4K resolution is not too bad at 32 inches. I still use a 125% scaling where I would use a 150% scaling on my 27 inch 4K display. Still, it's not too bad and the pixel density is still enjoyable. It is noticeably lower when you have them side by side and at a certain distance, I can start to see the individual pixels on the 32 inch display while I still can perceive them on the 27 inch, but it's within reasonable ranges

 It wouldn't be bad overall and you do get better contrast in general, but I would still recommend an IPS panel over this one for this particular case. Now about that size, scaling and pixel density. The 4K resolution is not too bad at 32 inches. I still use a 125% scaling where I would use a 150% scaling on my 27 inch 4K display
