 The whole thing is super dark gray, with a touch of red trim here, and there, though one thing i noticed is that the xl2546s has a grainy finish compared to my xl2540s, smooth finish other than that it looks identical to my xl2540 and even the xl2546s. Having the same side bezels at 13, millimeters thick with the top bezels being about one or two millimeters thinner and the same chin at 18, millimeters thick the base is still made of metal while being covered in plastic, taking up very little desk space because of its Shape the monitor itself is made out of plastic with this cool looking pattern. A nice thing is that, if you're, the type of person who travels with your setup, you have these adjustable markers that allow you to know how you want the monitor, positioned when you're setting up and then.  So i immediately changed that, but even with that colors still looked weird, so the first thing i did with this monitor was check to see how far off color accuracy was, and my god look at that chart. On my unit, the uncalibrated delta e average was 12.01 12.01

 Regardless of all that, though, this monitor's performance is absolutely bonkers and you will not be disappointed if you are a super competitive or an aspiring esports player. Let'S start with the response time, because that's really the hype surrounding this monitor zowie claims that the xl2546 has a response time of 0.5 milliseconds. But does it really, though, we'll start with both the ama or advanced motion acceleration off, which is their overdrive and their dayak plus off, which is their elmb or extreme low motion blur and move up from there with ama off? It really doesn't look like anything special to give you some context: here's the asus vg259 qm at 280 hertz with their overdrive off and the benq zowie xl 2540 at 240hz, with its ama off

 Again, i get refresh cycles, but three months is not your standard refresh cycle for a gaming monitor. Personally, i get the feeling like there's something wrong with this monitor and we're just not being told, but maybe just maybe i'm blowing this way out of proportion and thinking of this way more than i should, but hopefully we'll know about it in september. [Monitor] ASUS TUF 280hz 24.5” 1080p monitor. $319, in stock

 So just wanted to see if it'll be better, and it's not, but if you're in the market for a new 240hz panel, maybe give it a swing. I'm not the most educated on panel refresh-rate, gsync, blah blah all that jazz, but take a look at Blur Busters for more info. To me though this just doesn't feel as smooth and responsive as my old one.

Not the best for price. Returned, and now back to PG258Q.

  Additionally, there are effects that I think flicker faster - or become more noisy - with a higher refresh rate. Things like dithering and pixel inversion.  Overall, I guess 240hz isn't a go for me, and finding a concrete answer seems difficult. Some of these issues could be related to sitting too close, and perhaps the main culprit lies with the PWM/strobe that, due to it, I can't really decide quickly if direct current dimming LED is as smooth and stable as other more softer glowing light sources that the effects are maybe compounding with each other along with grainy coatings and uniformity issues, as well as lack of perfect viewing angle, which I now believe provides additive pixel sharpness and eye comfort for LCDs along with a lighter and glossier coating

There is nothing wrong with the monitor out of the box and it works just fine, but I cannot live with how it reproduces colors and it's general clarity. This thing is a beast for gaming, but for anything else its rather awful to use for everyday tasks. I already have a 1440p/144hz panel that will work just fine for CS, and I can deal with the slightly lower refresh rates until newer technology comes out.

The screen is buttery smooth, but the color reproduction is horrid to use everyday.

 This monitor is the best for any FPS out there.  My one complaint is the tradeoffs of moving to a 240hz monitor. It's just the nature of current technology and it is nothing the brand can change. The main one being resolution

 Then go back to 144hz to see if you can handle it. If you compare 240hz and 144hz switching back and forth for a few minutes apart you won't tell much of a difference. You don't know what you have until it is taken away from you. Which is why it is much easier to tell a difference if you played at 240hz for a good amount of time then tried to go back to a slower refresh rate

 Refresh rate definitely helps a lot in these scenarios and the blur reduction makes it even easier to be accurate.  Moving from 60hz to 144hz was night and day difference. I bought my BenQ 2730 144hz monitor about a year ago. I've played on It 3-4 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time

 Which is near impossible to do on a 60hz monitor for sure. At 240hz I have no problem following their faces and poking them in the face with an arrow. I am a Hanzo main in Overwatch and that will explain why I was stuck in plat forever to most of you fellow OW players, but Hanzo is a character that relies on accuracy a lot and these high refresh rate monitors help a ton if you are trying to become more accurate. If you are a Winston, Brigitte, or Symmetra main you are fine going back to a tube monitor at 30hz
