And granted we did have three pocket 4Ks with us, but looking back on it, it's not really why we ended up using them more often. It kind of comes down to the fact that you can actually use MFT lenses and EF lenses with them, which makes it easy to switch between various lenses and again, making it less bulky than the 6K Pro if you need to use MFT lenses with it, which don't get me wrong. The 6K Pro is an excellent camera, but unless I have a need for the 6K footage, I don't really use it as much as the pocket 4K

Look into getting a used copy of either a Sony A7S or a BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (BMPCC 4K). The Sony will be slightly better, but I’m not a fan of Sony from back then. The BlackMagic is really good in its class (micro 4/3 sensor) and will be a great choice, if you are OK with manual focusing. Btw, battery like sucks on both, so get some spares

I am looking to buy a camera for shooting videos during my travels, but it is extremely important for me that it is pocketable. Budget is very flexible. 

I was looking at "premium" point and shoots such as Sony rx100, fuji x100v, leica d-lux 7, ricoh gr Iii, but they all seem to have photography as their main thing, with video being chucked in as an afterthought. In a 1200$ish dollar price range I feel like a simple iPhone beats all of those aforementioned cameras in video capabilities because of computational power, however it has other faults such as sensor size and zoom quality. 

There are also action cameras, but they are all way too saturated, sporty, small sensor'd and the output looks a bit cheap to me. 

So am I missing something, or is a market for very compact, non-interchangeable lens, premium video cameras with respectable sensor sizes simply not there?

Is there anything that's better for video than an iPhone but in similarly small size/form factor?

 Easy to navigate and clear. - Outstanding picture quality for the money. - Advanced features that you normally don't see on cameras twice the price. > Raw recording > XLR audio input > Focus assist, false color, zebra stripes, etc

 - Comes with a free copy of Davinci Resolve Studio.  Cons: - No auto-focus - Batteries are consumed like nothing I've ever seen. If you plan to use this away from a power outlet, make sure you're using a very large alternative battery. Or else you'll be swapping out the little batteries every half-hour

Perfect if you enjoy swapping batteries.

 Well, it might surprise you that most movie theaters are not set up to project 4k. In fact, there's only a handful of them. Most cinemas in the US are only at the 2k standard. And even more surprising is that the most popular movie camera in the business, the Arri Alexa, isn't even a 4k camera

 If you're mastering in 4k and you shoot at a higher resolution than that, then you have the ability in post-production to crop into the image, to reframe or to even stabilize the footage without losing any image quality. Not to mention that shooting in a higher resolution future-proofs all your work. If in the future you want to remaster into the standard definition of that day and age, then you've got the option to do that. And camera companies know this

 So this raises a question, in a world of 12k resolution and 16 plus stops of dynamic range, is the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K a waste of money in 2022? Unfortunately yes, this camera is a waste of money in 2022. Let me explain why. Starting with the fact that this is only a 4k camera. When it comes to resolution more is nearly always better, it gives you a more detailed picture with less visible noise straight out of camera
