The Bontrager Velocis MIPS is shockingly comfortable all day long, and its ventilation is some of the best we've found, keeping your head plenty cool on long, hot rides. The chin straps are easy to adjust and you can easily center the adjustment buckle. We love the simple BOA dial to adjust the fit around the head, too. It allowed us to evenly tension this helmet around our heads and create a snug yet comfortable fit. The minimalist 37.5 fit padding has fewer contact points than many helmets. This makes you feel like the helmet is floating just above your head. This helmet has a full-coverage polycarbonate shell that doesn't leave any of the vulnerable EPS foam exposed to potential dings or dents. Plus, it has MIPS technology to add extra protection to that noggin if you crash. This helmet has a velcro visor and sunglasses port, which we found extra handy for evening rides. With all of these features, this is still one of the lightest helmets we tested. We also think the duotone color design looks fast, and don't we all want to look faster on our bikes?
While the internal recessed vent design adds some extra bulkiness to this helmet, we all loved the cooling effect that the ventilation system creates. Even our sweatiest testers noticed a significant difference in the cool channels of air. They reduce wind roar, too, so we can live with the added bulk. The Velocis is pretty pricey, but the innovative ventilation design is worth the price for long rides in the heat.

 So I have to look into this particular product so I'll see when this expires. Okay so now I think it's time to go out for a ride and we'll see how it does. So I'm back from my ride and I thought the helmet performed really well, it felt comfortable on my head and honestly it didn't even feel like I was wearing a helmet. Also the air vents on the helmet really helped cool my head, that's very important because you don't want to be overheating when you're out for long rides

 I like how comfortable this helmet is compared to my old one. So like I said every manufacturer has a production date or stamp on the inside of the helmet. So this one the production date on it says 05 2020. So depending on the manufacturer some will say replace the helmets in 3 years, some will say 5 years

Bontrager Velocis helmet review

So had to replace my old Specialized helmet and went with what looked close and bought the Prevail.  After riding it several times, this think feels really heavy and bulky.  Is it the MIPS that makes it that way or are there other MIPS helmets that are more streamlined?

 Now in terms of fit and sizing it's very similar to the circuit. It weighs 30 grams less which is nice. It doesn't have the magnetic mounts that the circuit does. Now the Velocis does share the same bow dial with your circuit

It also shares the same straps and the same lockdown dividers which is this little lockdown there which lets you set that dimension for the triangle and that's just a comfort thing. The Velocis helmet does also come with a sticker kit and a removable visor

Bontrager Velocis Helmet Review - New Helmet or New Trek Emonda 2021... That's the question!

On the very first ride I noticed that there was a LOT of wind noise coming from the side straps since they are right next to your ear.  After the ride I noticed that the straps had a poorly designed buckle (clasp) that did not allow the straps to rest flush up against the sides of my face.  Was going to return it, but instead I performed some minor surgery by cutting the straps and then lacing on some clasps from an old Giro helmet.  The surgery was a success and now both side straps rest flush against my face with no wind noise

The helmet has very good ventilation and great air flow through the helmet (some helmets have many vents but not good air flow).  If Trek could fix the flaw with their side buckles (especially the road bike helmets) they would have an easy 5 Star helmet.

Buy this helmet! Just be careful storing the helmet or getting the closing boa system caught something.  These plastic tabs will break. Ride safe and take care!

I am 6'2" and 240 lbs. Been riding for 16 years. This the best helmet for looks, ventilation and low sound. It does not make my 7 3/4 hat head look big

Great helmet, accommodates a big melon too! But...

The ventilation is great.  Very nice air flow.  The MIPS adjustment lets you really dial in the tension you prefer.  The helmet largely keeps the sweat off of the glasses - the padding design collects it to the outside edges of your eyebrows, so when you are sweating a lot, the drip pattern stays off to the side

I am one of the few who has actually been able to get his hands on this helmet to date.  I am using it now in Kona.  The true test for me is about ventilation and whether or not sweat collects and drips onto my sunglasses when I am riding in warm weather like this.

As always Bontrager make the best helmets that fit my melon. This case is no different is light, fits incredible and love the design. However if the price includes the factory decals, they should come already on the helmet. Everytime I try to apply them, they come apart as I separate them from the paper
