 It just sounds really good and gives you that kind of hard clipping edginess to your tone in a way that doesn't make it sound muffled at all. Now the second rule and I think the more important rule and this is really true for just about any distortion or overdrive pedal or even fuzz. So bear with me because you might say this is kind of a cop-out rule, but the cardinal rule with this pet, even though it's orange, it's not. it's not

 So what we're going to do now is we're going to dive back in and hear these tones that I'm talking about. We're going to start with something kind of similar to what we're doing at the beginning. There, I'm going to start with the Sg going into the amp overdriven and then do it again with the amp clean on the same setting so that you can hear how much of a difference it makes when you go into an overdriven amp versus a clean amp. Character of the pedal sounds the same, but the delivery is very different

 it gives me like one of the strategies tones I've ever heard. It just really emphasizes the strat pickups and it just sounds really great. That's not what most people would think of when they think of a pedal like this, but it's a usable application with a humbucking guitar. Or if you turn the tone way back

 This is when the DS-1 comes into play. It does have a high pitch treble sound, but that's not a bad thing if that's what you are looking for. The moral of the story is that the DS-1 is a great pedal if you use it for the right purposes. Don't expect a rich low end zone and you will be happy

 I play through a Fender Blues Deluxe all tube 80 watt, 1x12 amp. I play mostly an American Standard Strat and at times, an American Standard Telecaster and Les Paul Custom. Most of the time I use my second channel cranked for a distorted sound, and use an Ibanez Tube Screamer for that crunchy sound (ala SRV). But there are times when I want a hard nose distortion, but not that deep crunchy driven sound

WILL IT CHUG? - BOSS DS-1 DISTORTION

I’ve heard the best ones are the Boss DS-1 and DS-2 Turbo Distortion Pedals. The price difference implies there’s quite a difference between the two but I don’t understand what that is. I’m trying to mimic the sound of the electric guitar solos from RHCP, Nirvana, Sam Fender and Declan Mckenna (particularly his song Basic (regurgitated)).

[DISCUSSION] - ***No Stupid Questions*** Spring into Summer 2021

Guitar: American made Stratocaster with original single coil pickups Amplifier: Fender Hot Rod 40W tube amp  Not the right pedal for my particular setup. The distortion is OK. First thing I didn't like, I could not get any crunch. This is to be expected with the guitar and amp I am playing

 Which makes the distortion sound a little wimpy. If it had bottom end, I would have used it for a rock sound and used the metal zone for metal sound. I ended up replacing this with the Mega Distortion for my rock sound.

 However, I found the Metal Zone and Mega Distortion are able to give me some crunch. Second, this pedal takes all of the bottom end out of the sound. Which makes the distortion sound a little wimpy. If it had bottom end, I would have used it for a rock sound and used the metal zone for metal sound

Not right for my particular setup

 You will lose. Put this in your collection because it looks great and it's none more black. Ok, this is Nick bulkhead signing off and once again I'm going to use this little device here with a few other Boss pedals to hopefully fill the potholes in the horrible road. So as you can see, I plug this black Epiphone Les Paul into my black Ds1 for a going straight into the Marschallin just so you can hear what I'm doing with the Marshall I've got on the clean channel set to a very neutral sound here there so all the distortion all the wrongs you're hearing will be created by the Ds1. Now the Ds1 has three controls. As you can see, it has a tone control, a level control and wait for it to third control

 Unless of course, every time you add to your collection, you celebrate by having hamburgers with a creepy clown. So don't do the ladder, just buy more pedals because they're cool. BOSS DS-1 Distortion Pedal Review

Boss DS-1 is my default answer but it really depends on what type of distortion you want. I’m not sure of the exchange rate but I believe a Wampler Tumnus is within range. A used Archer is also in that range. Also consider the Soul Food

The battery was dead right out of the package, I don’t have another 9V battery so I may update my review when I can use it.

 But the tone has stayed the same since and it's 2018 now, so how long is that, 40 years? Come on, it must be doing something right. Everyone's got a 9 volt battery under here or a 9 volt power supply. Very simple controls. How much distortion do you want, how loud do you want your distortion to be and how bright do you want your distortion to sound? Those are the specs, these are the sounds

 The Boss DS-1 is one of the best distortion pedals on the planet and if you argue with me, fight me! It's been used by some of the most famous guitar players you've ever heard of and it doesn't break the bank. People just assume with the price of it that it's cheap and crap or a beginner's pedal. Everyone just sees this pedal as a beginner's pedal. Prince used one, John Frasciante uses one, who else does? Dave Navarro, Gary Moore used the DS-1 to get those

 I don't think this guy even needs an introduction. This is the Boss DS-1. The Boss DS-1 is one of the best distortion pedals on the planet and if you argue with me, fight me! It's been used by some of the most famous guitar players you've ever heard of and it doesn't break the bank. People just assume with the price of it that it's cheap and crap or a beginner's pedal
