Mooer Black Secret

Since my board only had the space to accommodate a mini pedal I figured I'd give the Black Secret a try, since it supposedly has the same 'legendary' chip (if chips can be considered *legendary*) of the original Rats, which not even modern Rats use any more, and for $35 it was an extremely low-risk gamble. And holy cow, friends and neighbors — this thing just replaced my $160 boutique distortion pedal on my board. It works for everything from crunchy hard rock, to soaring, sustaining leads over ambient wash, and just about anything else. Plus, stacking it with my Nobels ODR-mini set at low-gain gives it a little extra bottom-end, with just the right amount of searing sizzle on top.

I think the Mooer Black Secret is the best RAT clone I've ever tried. I got my Josephson c42's for under $100, but that was more GC not understanding what they were - and they *are* a clone (sort of) of an old Neumann.

Planning to use it for more bluesy, sustainy lead lines more than anything....damn I love this thing already and it seems to do a good impression of both the Blue & Grey Fazes which I was agonising over. Was proving too much of a pain to find a good deal on the Grey (which has the germanium sound as I understand it). **Mooer Black Secret (£30 used?)**.

Great pedal used by so many over the years. And more in the distortion genre, one of the best and oldest besides the DS1 ,imo, is the Rat. They can be had for about 60-70 dollars or there are good clones like the Mooer Black Secret, probably slightly less but I believe are in a smaller form and has the settings of two different Rat’s.
