[QUESTION] Is a Boss Katana 100 100W and Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster a good setup for a $500 budget for playing at home?

 I also don't care or have any interest in "gigging" - just want to play in the apt. and get some tones that I like, quickly.  I have a Marshall DSL that is just far superior for what I was looking for and it's super easy to use. Incredible tone, tube feel/sound that is authentic, and I can push that sound at a very low volume with its attenuator, as well

 None of the amp models that this had (Brown/Crunch/Lead/etc.) went quite heavy enough for the sound I was particularly seeking. i.e

Cool 12" Amp but definitely for Intermediate or Advanced Users; over-hyped for newbies like me

 I've had this amp for a few months now and it's about time that I did a review. Now this particular model is the 50 watt combo version. so it's the Boss Katana 50 Mark Ii and the prices for these amplifiers are down around 240 dollars now. Obviously the price is great and they've got a lot of really cool features and these amps have really been hyped up since they were first released

 You know, because this is a Boss product, you have access to the basically the entire catalog of Boss effects but in digital form that you can use on this amplifier. And there's a bunch of built-in effects. and also, you know, like a lot of modern amplifiers, this has a Usb port which will allow you to sort of like import and set up new effects and new patches. Now I want to get into the playing demo so you can hear how the amp sounds like

 You also have a little button right up here. I hope you can see that that says variation on it and that you can hit that to give just sort of a different voicing to the amplifier type that you have selected here. It also has an input for a a foot control, an expression pedal so that can be either for uh, you know, for switching or it can be an expression pedal for like doing volume swells or something like that. And we have a recording out headphone jack so that's going to be a speaker emulated output which you can either use for headphones or recordings so you can run this directly into a recording interface, not have to worry about miking it up or anything like that

 so it's the Boss Katana 50 Mark Ii and the prices for these amplifiers are down around 240 dollars now. Obviously the price is great and they've got a lot of really cool features and these amps have really been hyped up since they were first released. If I'm being totally honest, I really have not spent very much time with these amplifiers. I can't afford a new amp so I looked around for several on the used market and found these that are about the same price in my city.  Marshall mg30cfx, Vox valvetronix vt 20+, Vox vt 30, Marshall mg30dfx, Vox VX II 30, Fender champion 20. These are the ones I found at practically the same price.  Which one is better or which one would you recommend?

[DISCUSSION] which amp is better / do you recommend?

 Let me start by saying that this amp is an excellent amp for most situations and is a great alternative if you don't want to use a tube or want a lighter amp to carry to gigs. The tone cloud is also great, as well as the clean and crunch tones. My main issues with the Katana are: I am not fond of the higher gain tones, the headphone out seems to be mono which is just downright stupid in this day and age. I mostly play and record at home now, and trying to record with the USB cable is a pain on a windows PC

Good amp for most but not for me

 And I'll tell you why I want the 100 watt because I feel like this 1 by 12 inch speaker just doesn't push as much air as I would like like when I'm playing right? We play with a pretty loud drummer and bass player or singers playing acoustic too, so there's a lot of volume on stage right, playing some rock themed country really. So what I would prefer is to have two 12-inch speakers pushing just a little bit more air and getting a little bit more thump and low wind out of it. That's what I would prefer, but that's just me personally. Okay, that just fits the solid music that we play a little better

 combining those you can really achieve any sound that you desire as a guitar player. I mean, it has all of Boss's effects pedals on the Tone Studio. Ouch! Dad. Gum bugs swatting like everything

BOSS KATANA 50 MKII... [Should You Buy This in 2021?]...My HONEST Review after 1 year of owning

Hi all.  I've been learning acoustic guitar since April and have decided to try out electric guitars as well.  My dad's shipping me his old Fender Stratocaster but he doesn't have the amp anymore so I'll need to get one separately. I'm just going to be practicing in my living room so it doesn't need to be gig-quality or especially loud, but it should be good enough that I won't feel the need to upgrade after a month or two of practice.  I'd rather just buy one amp that will keep up as I improve.  I jump around genres a lot, too, so the amp shouldn't be specialized.

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably-priced amp for a Fender Strat?  I don't have a strict budget here though obviously I'd prefer to pay less.  Thanks!

[GEAR] Good amp for a Fender Stratocaster?

 Really annoying when your playing heavy songs that have slower soft parts (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack, Breaking Benjamin, etc.).

 An UZI distortion. A noise gate, and a looper. That's it. My problem is if I turn off the distortion pedal the Amp"s volume gets extremely low

Absolutely amazing, with one glitch.

 Acoustic, clean, crunch, lead and brown? Uh. gain, volume, bass, middle treble effects, booster modulation, delay and reverb Okay. turn settings on a power selector A little attenuatory type thing. Okay, we'll stick that over onto standby for now

 I am absolutely shocked at how much better it is than any other beginner kind of price. Uh, amplifier that I've ever tried. It's amazing and I've just noticed that I I'm mucked around with the power control. Yeah, either to go from 50 watts to 25 to half a watt

 I've been in a few guitar stores and just thought, like, you know, while I'm here, let's check out what, uh, what's going on and I asked around a few friends as well and said hey, what? You know, what amps do you recommend for beginner guitar players and nearly everyone. All of my guitar teacher mates and the people I know that work in stores all recommend the same app and it's I look. it's really super cheap. Like unbelievably cheap if it's as good as they say they are
