 So being brutally honest here: Mike my ball flecks are a little beat-up the stands Oh have helped up great over the past couple of years that you don't care. Alright, so moving on right now: I have both dumbbells up for the maximum white capacity at fifty two and a half pounds. so you're sitting in their stands. The statute is is the design to be able to make you adjust them right here on the ends

 The the Bowflex takes that one. - okay, we're gonna jump right in the effectiveness of the dumbbells and how well they work during your workouts. I've been using mine for a little over a year and a half. They make a feature and every one of my workout videos I post them on Instagram daily I'll leave my handle right here if you want some ideas

 Well I'm going to show you that in a second. So I just want to pick one up out of the stand. Show you how easy it is. When you're done, you're sliding like that

 Okay, if you happen to stumble upon this review over the countless others that are already on YouTube it must have been this charming face that got you here. so we're gonna go ahead and just get right into it. The Bowflex 552 is an adjustable dumbbell that adjust from five pounds all the way up to fifty two and a half pounds. therefore giving it the name both Flex, Five Five Two

 I also like that they go up to 80lbs and replace what would have been 16 pairs of fixed dumbbells. I’ve lifted with them for 2 days now and put them through a bunch of movements. I’ve shaken them around and tried to twist the handle while undocked from the cradle, and haven’t been able to get it to disengage - I feel confident these would not fail while lifting. Like most adjustable dumbbells, you aren’t supposed to drop them, and dropping them would in fact void the warranty

My initial impressions are positive - they arrived in good condition, no scratches or dings, and unboxing and setup was straightforward. I like that they have a metal knurled handle, they have a very compact form factor - roughly the same size as their cast iron hex dumbbell counterparts. I also like that they go up to 80lbs and replace what would have been 16 pairs of fixed dumbbells. I’ve lifted with them for 2 days now and put them through a bunch of movements

I was frustrated and ABOUT to just return them, but they actually taught me that them locking up out of the box is a safety feature. They don't tell you this, they should, I have no idea why, but I went through a few minute unlocking process and now they seem to work great. I'm actually happy now

EDIT: Hey everyone, PLEASE read this if you're buying these. I thought mine were broken out of the box like so many others.  Place the handle back in the base and test each weight. It worked for me. Yes, it's plastic inside but that is some sturdy plastic I honestly suspect it should work for a good amount of time and apparently they come with a 2 year parts warranty. If you wouldn't mind, upvote this to save time and frustration from all the others who thought it was broken out of the box

EDIT: PLEASE EVERYONE READ THIS--- (people think they break, they work)

 I mean most adjustable dumbbells, they ask you not to drop this one. I would be extremely weary of dropping. If you have a Bowflex Selecttech dumbbell 1090 or 552s, do not drop them. They will break

 It goes in five pound. and a majority of dumbbells that are out there that you find in commercial gyms or adjustable dumbbells only go in five pound increments. So definitely a plus for the Bowflex. For those lighter weights, as you can, you know, progressively overload, you know

 There's a lot of plastic here. There isn't some metal throughout for structural, but it's mostly plastic. Very dangerous. Um, yeah, so don't drop them

 Okay, I have my timer ready to go. I'm starting at five. I want to go all the way to 45 pounds. Let's do it

 It's more of a workout "area" than a gym at this point but I have my FID bench on the way and I by some miracle was able to grab a pair of Bowflex Selectech 552 dumbbells at my local sporting store. I was searching for those for about 2 and a half months and almost did a backflip when I got the last pair this morning. I have my bench on the way, my dip bars, and my weights now. I am finally joining the club

 Easy dial spin to select weight, 2.5 lb adjustments within the first 25 lbs, very comfortable grip, imho they look great too. Go from benching to shoulder press to curls to farmer’s carry to flies without ever changing a plate (I completely prefer cable row but for those who like the dumbbell row, you can add that to the list). Muscles are mechanically stressed enough without plate changing

Excellent Product But Durability Too Poor

 Um, and there's only so much that you could actually do with 52 and a half pounds. There's only so much volume that you could actually do with that but at some point. Um, especially if you're a dedicated home workout person and you have a dedicated like home gym, you're eventually gonna have to move on from the 52 and a half pounds. And especially if you're trying to do like progressive overload, you'll eventually want to want to go up to like 55 pounds, 60 pounds, etc etc

 Um, you know, especially if you're going to be paying good money for these things, You don't want to really be throwing them around or anything like that. But honestly, like I've done so many different types of exercises with these, I've done like overhead presses. uh, bench press. I've done rows with these

 Um, especially if you're a dedicated home workout person and you have a dedicated like home gym, you're eventually gonna have to move on from the 52 and a half pounds. And especially if you're trying to do like progressive overload, you'll eventually want to want to go up to like 55 pounds, 60 pounds, etc etc. I've actually used resistance bands uh, in conjunction with the 552s.  Uh, not just physically, but also mentally. All right. So um, you just gotta remember that it's it is an investment. Okay, but it's an investment for your own health and just for your own mind
