The Brooks Canopy made major improvements in its most recent revision, dropping some weight and two pockets while adding some truly innovative features. It remains one of the most comfortable jackets we've tried and now competes as one of the lightest and least expensive. It's a natural choice for our best value, but with a few more improvements, it could challenge for the top spot overall.
The foundation of the Canopy's stellar performance is its DriLayer Seal fabric that is both softer and more flexible than most other jacket materials while still providing an ideal blend of warmth, weather resistance, and breathability. It also sports one of the most interesting and fast stuff sacks we've seen, converting the entire jacket into a mini backpack in a matter of seconds. The cut is loose and comfortable without feeling billowy and can fully unzip without flapping in the breeze, thanks to two front snap closures.
The only real complaint about the Canopy is that it's the least protective of the jackets we tried. Although the soft Drilayer Seal material is quite capable of keeping out the elements, it's not as weather-resistant as some other nylon materials or those with fully waterproof fabric barriers, and its high breathability means it lets through a lot of wind. The lack of adjustability on the hood also reduces its effectiveness when you're on the move. Overall, however, the Canopy is a versatile, comfortable, and well-priced jacket worthy of consideration.

This version hit the market with updated breathability and comfort features, which secured its standing as one of our favorite running jackets for women. We love how breathable the ripstop body of the jacket is. When choosing a jacket that will remain comfortable throughout the entirety of our runs, the Canopy is our top pick because of its ability to release heat and keep us comfortable. We reached for the Canopy for road and trail runs simply because it is a jacket we never tire of wearing. On sunny days, the UPF 30 kept us from worrying about additional skin protection; on chilly days, the Canopy added just enough to keep us cozy. 
The Canopy provides slightly less than its competitors in terms of rain protection. It does a decent job of repelling the initial drops, but the fabric of the jacket soaks through more quickly than we prefer. Because of this, we hesitate to recommend the Canopy as a jacket for damp climates. Despite its updates, the Canopy is shorter than most jackets we reviewed. If you have a long torso or want a slouchier fit, you'll have better luck in a jacket that offers a bit more fabric. But if you want a running jacket that will keep you comfy in windy conditions, on lengthy road runs, and on trail adventures, you'll love the features, comfort, and UPF rating of the Brooks Canopy.

Great but...

Very light weight and comfortable, but the wrist cuffs are loose and runs slightly larger than normal. I liked the comfort and weight and also the hood roll up strap. This is a break a chill jacket unless one wears other base layers.

Zipper Trouble

Disappointing

Very nice. Almost very, very nice.

Different fit to the older version, unfortunately the sleeves are too short for it to be usable. They sit about 3 inches shorter on me. It's a shame because the fabric is brilliant, and the snaps that keep the jacket closed while unzipped a re a great innovation.
