The local Staples has both the Brother MFC-L8900CDW and HP M479fdw all-in-one printers in stock. I want something that is going to be very reliable and long lasting while also having good print and scan quality.

 It had to scan and print duplex. The consumables had to be reasonably priced. Most importantly, it had to support web services like scanning to Google Drive, Dropbox, Box. It had to support cloud printing like Google Cloud Print

 My inkjet-based Epson was no longer cutting it. The ink cartridges were a pain, with nozzles drying up. The world had moved forward, and the Epson couldn’t scan directly to Google Drive. I was doing the USB drive shuffle to move files

Good machine, but has a few problems

I'm a homeschool mom, in a family of crafty people. We have several needs/wants, and I'm thinking I am going to need two printers to accomodate all of them. Currently, we have a Brother InkVestment larger format printer, but we've had issues with white lines that seem, from what I've read, to be from us likely damaging the printhead by using thicker cardstock than it is rated for. I didn't realize it wasn't rated for cardstock - and now am finding that MOST printers are not rated to use even normal 65lb cardstock. So....need to replace, and probably with two  - one for cardstock/crafts and one for higher volume/faster output every day color printing. 

Things we want/need:

\-ability to print on 65lb cardstock, at least

\-ability to print on vinyl, sticker paper, etc

\-autoduplex (preferably both for cardstock printer and regular color printer, but maybe could deal with manually flipping on the cardstock/crafting one)

\-one of them needs to scan/copy in color 

\-ideally one of them able to print larger paper, like tabloid size, but not a deal breaker. I can always send those few things a year to be printed somewhere else. 

\-for everyday use, I'd like the output tray to be at least 100 pages. I fairly regularly print unit studies/curriculum packets, etc that are 70-130 pages. Would like large input tray(s) for this reason as well. 

\-I also usually use higher weight paper for curriculum, up to 32lb, if that matters

\-for the high volume I'd like nice graphics/images, but doesn't have to be super high photo quality, if I'm getting a second one for the crafts/photos/etc. 

Needs to be IN STOCK somewhere! I keep thinking maybe I've found an option, and nope, not in stock. 

Oh, and user friendly would be nice - our inkvestment isn't a fan of apple products, likes to disconnect from the wifi for no reason, and sometimes turns itself off, or refuses to print, even though it says it is printing, and then 45 minutes later starts up. At this point I assume all printers are possessed by poltergeists, but something that I at least can get set up fairly simply on my own without resorting to tech support would be nice.

I am currently planning on buying a color - laserprinter for my home office. 

Do you guys have any recommendations, except for HP? 

My dad has a HP LaserJet Pro, it basically never works right and the cartridge prices are extremely high, so I just don't want to buy something from this company (reading through old posts in this sub I think most of you can relate).

-I print about 10 pages per month for study purposes, but there are also times where I print nothing for like 2 to 3 months or 100 pages in 1 day. 

-money should be no deal breaker if it's not above 500 or 600 €

-there is no need for fax 

-scanner would be nice but not necessary 

For what I found in my research, a laserprinter would be best for my needs, but If you have any other recommendations, I will of course let you change my mind.
