 This is likely to translate to less even heating.  That said, does it matter that much in a roaster or even a sauce pan for that matter? Probably not but still, the cuisinart MCP is both cheaper and thicker. I would have preferred the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro roaster, which is larger, thicker, and $10 cheaper, but I have a very small oven. The calphalon fits and it doesn't

 Our old one had a rack that laid onto four 'knobs' on the ends, securing it completely. This one takes great care, when sliding it into and out of the oven, to keep the rack from sliding to the side. Still, as I look carefully at the images of other high-end roasters, it seems like they all do that, so I guess that's just how it is now.  People considering this should be very conscious of the size and how it will meet their needs

That's ridiculous; it wouldn't come close

  I used the pan for the first time for our Christmas turkey, and (other than the rack thing below) it performed admirably. The pan itself is sturdy and of high quality. It's not as heavy and some top-end tri-clad skillets, but it feels good and solid, and it handles well.  The only thing I really dislike about the pan is that the rack sits freely in the bottom of the pan without anything to keep it from sliding around

 The inside bottom is (was) mirror-shiny, and so pretty out of the box, but the whisk I used for the gravy pretty much took care of that. That doesn't worry me, though, as pans are tools, meant to be used. A recommendation is always relative to price, so mine is this. I bought it on sale via Amazon just before Christmas in the high two-digits and I would give it a high recommendation at that price for someone looking for a smaller pan

Nice small roaster, good on stovetop for deglazing

 I usually buy and roast two whole chickens at once and I don't think this narrow rack will hold two chickens easily. I have chosen, and will buy another rack that will fit in the bottom of this pan. The rack doesn't even look like it goes with the roaster.  I don't understand the backwards thinking of putting the mirror finish on the inside of the piece

Much sturdier than a Rachel Ray roasting pan that I got at Acme after saving a zillion stamps. Large enough to fit a 12 lb + turkey with some room to spare. Never did use the tongs. Turned the turkey using a kitchen towel
