 this is less likely to get snagged, caught up, etc. The time sync works well, but I am close to Ft Collins. Bought as a tough, no maintenance beater for edc. It is generally good for that purpose, but there are other options in that space

 The case size works well for me. I don't want a big obtrusive watch for edc, and IMO, the jumbos around today are a liability when engaged in MTB, kayakjng, hiking, yard work..

. Conclusion: I wanted to love this watch, but feel it is 'meh' overall. Some great features, but the fit and usability of some functions isn't optimal for me so 3 stars. YMMV Given the clicking sound and fit, I am on the fence about returning it

 Word to the wise: If your eyes are a bit dodgy, especially for reading purposes, you might want to rethink digital watches.

Cool watch, but fails in one important aspect

Not what it once was.

 I usually have it on the forth hole. Second, the band is not very comfortable to wear. I find it a bit stiff and it just doesn't conform to my wrist very well. I can live with it, but I'm going to try to replace it with another Casio band

 I'm very happy with the GW5000 band on this watch and had Casio put it on as stock, this watch would have gotten a 5 star rating from me.

 The functionality is great. Solar powered, Automatic time, stop watch, count down timer, multiple alarms and a second time zone - perfect.  The illumination actually works on this watch. Very easy to see in the dark as the entire face lights

  Update October 19 2015 Just received the GW5000 band. It is more rubbery, thinner and has more flex to it. In my opinion it is a bit more comfortable than the stock band that comes with this watch which has more of a hard plastic feel to it. The band I received was manufactured in Japan so I'm guessing it is more expensive to make

Almost the perfect everyday watch except for the band.

Been surfing with this daily for a little more than a month now...zero issues, it's totally waterproof

 I'm coming from wearing a Frogman, which I didn't take off my wrist except for getting Xrayed, for literally 5 years straight. THIS watch is lightweight, I can't believe how much heavier the frogman is!! It's also decently slim - after wearing a huge watch for 5 years I wanted something smaller. Not only can this watch fit inside my shirtsleeves, it naturally goes inside them while I'm wearing it - that can be a catch 22, it is more discreet than a big watch, but having to pull a sleeve back to read it isn't very convenient.  The time-zone adjustment is as simple as it gets for travel, very easy

Light, simple, waterproof, almost "perfect"

The first photo is what a proper, undamaged caseback should look like. I bought the negative display version of this watch from Sams Club.

 Basic date/time models, to most recently, a Wave-Ceptor model. In the picture, is the G-Shock I just bought, that replaces a Wave-Ceptor. The biggest problem that I've had with non G-Shock watches, over time, is that the bands break - or worse, the pins pull out of the case!  The Wave-Ceptor, on the right in the picture, recently spit out a pin. Knowing from experience, that once that happens it's a downhill struggle, I decided to proactively replace it

 I sent it back. I searched around and found this G-Shock watch. It doesn't have the bells and whistles that that Suunto had, but I CAN READ THE DISPLAY!  Positive notes: I can read the display, REGARDLESS of the ambient lighting conditions; it talks to a US Atomic clock, meaning it's always within 5 seconds of the timeclock at work; it's solar powered (my Wave-Ceptor wasn't), meaning i should NEVER have to replace a battery!  So far, so good! Three things that I really like about this watch so far: form-factor; accuracy; keeps the loose end of the band tight.  Time will tell if this is a keeper

So, one of the two features that makes the watch cost twice as much as the simple $45 version, wasn't even working for me. I've decided to return it and look for a large case watch that fits by big ole' wrist

 The screen was easy to read and it felt like the perfect "wear all the time" watch.  What I didn't realize is that the smaller case would mean it wouldn't fit my wrist properly. Since the resin strap is so stiff and doesn't flex much around the lugs, the watch was squeezing the sides of my wrist and actually grinding into the bone of my wrist. I realized that I could sorta stand it if I wore it loosely, but it was so lose that it could rotate all the way around my wrist, sort of annoying

 The features it came with for the price were perfect. I liked the idea of having a smaller case watch since all my others are big. The screen was easy to read and it felt like the perfect "wear all the time" watch.  What I didn't realize is that the smaller case would mean it wouldn't fit my wrist properly

I really, really like this watch!!  Why four stars? The packaging and delivery. It arrived in and ENVELOPE inside a cardboard G-Shock branded box. The box was completely crushed, but the watch appears undamaged
