Casio Oceanus

Here is my new Casio Oceanus OCW-S5000D. The watch itself is not big (42mm) and very thin (9.3mm including the glass). The case is hardened titanium with Zaratsu polishing, famous from Grand Seiko. The bracelet titanium too and is very comfortable.

I guess they call it the honey-moon period with a watch as well?. Consider me still in it after a good month of getting this Casio Oceanus OCW-T200SLE-2AJR. Still can’t get over the beauty of it and quality of finishing and really value for such a relatively inexpensive piece. You’d be hard pressed to find a better watch for under one grand.

This watch, the Casio Oceanus OCW-S100-1AJF, is an atomic solar-powered watch made of hardened titanium, finished with Zaratsu polishing - the very same polishing method utilised on Grand Seiko watches. In fact, it has been rumoured that Casio gets their cases from the same factory that makes cases for Grand Seiko; I take that with a grain of salt, but the Zaratsu polishing is definitely undisputedly the best finishing I’ve seen on any watch under $1500. The watch automatically adjusts its time and date by receiving radio frequencies from atomic watch towers around the world, and is solar-powered so you don't need to replace the battery every 3 years.

If you are within the range of an atomic clock radio signal, the watch syncs every night so the time is always extremely accurate. You can also set it up to sync via Bluetooth with your phone. The previous version, the Oceanus S100, had a case/lug notched design that made it hard to switch out straps. Casio has designed the T200 to be able to take regular straps without modification.
