Buck style hunting knives seems to have really thin, fine tips. I use them for cutting deer/flesh but also just as EDC. They seem to keep breaking though.

I had a good folding buck knife about a year ago that I loved a few years ago, but the tip broke when I was cutting something open one day. No big deal, I replaced it with a k-bar knife in the buck folding style and it’s been great for the past few years  but the other day I noticed the tip somehow broke off of that one too. 

Anyone know of a comparable knife that’s sturdier and won’t break?

 The price point is a bargain to me considering like blades might cost double what the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter sells for.

 I usually have to press the release against something solid to release the blade. Mine is also not flickable to open one handed with the thumb stud. I can open it one handed but it is not fast, more like a strained slow push open. Once open, it’s like a fixed blade knife that devours whatever needs cutting

 The backspring is a monster and the Triad Lock is solid with no blade play. I cannot release the blade with a thumb press to the lock release located approximately mid spine. I usually have to press the release against something solid to release the blade. Mine is also not flickable to open one handed with the thumb stud

 Code 4 is a bit thin for me so I put some pistol grip tape on the scales. Works pretty good.

I need suggestions on a new knife, preferably in s35vn steel. I was thinking the code 4, but this will be my first purchase on a knife with good quality steel, and I heard their customer service sucks. I would hate to spend the money, and then not be able to fix it if I needed to. Hopefully someone has experience with their customer service and can vouch for them but idk as of right now. 

My budget would be $120ish tops and I prefer a everyday carry folder type of knife.

Need Suggestions on a New Knife

  I deducted 1 star because it took 3 attempts before I got a good example. I ended up ordering 2 black models and one orange. Both black examples had a noticeably uneven grind and gritty action. The orange example I received had a nice even grind, perfectly smooth action, and spot-on blade centering

 Needless to say, I sent the two black models back and am thrilled with the orange example which I will be keeping.  One interesting observation: the orange model has a serial number on the center of the blade near the handle and the black models do not. Also, the black models both had the same exact uneven grind. It's almost as if the two colors are produced at different plants that have vastly different levels of QC

Awesome knife, if you get a good example

 It has the same s35vn steel and almost the same blade as the AD10, which many consider to be the toughest folder out there...

I work as a mechanic/maintenance as well a firefighter. Looking for a strong EDC that's going to last me some years to come. Budget is up to $250. Preferably folding. I use a cheap Chinese gas station knife that doesn't cut anything.

Not my favorite knife but a good knife. Sturdy and a good blade. BTW, I received an original Cold Steel just in case you are concerned.

Rock solid Cold Steel knife

 not too large or heavy , i think for an EDC this model would work fine however i wish to keep is really sharp so I will be checking out options from Cold Steel along with Benchmade Bugout 2.8inch model.  The handle shape allows delicate use in many ways safely , the grip is just amazing the texture doesn't feel rough but it grips so incredibly well its difficult to describe ( included close up pics of the textured handle) the two small gently sloping indents for your fingers is just fantastic.  Having a mount point on the back that can easily be used with some para cord is great and i will make use of that

 Once it is past 1/4 open it wont just fall back into place. It locks up with authority and feels super strong. Releasing the blade from its locked position takes fair amount of force , fully depressing the release fully into the frame which imo is ideal and a good feature.  The blade thickness is just perfect as seen in pics , the shape of the blade is perfect for doing multiple delicate types of work , tapering down to a sharp thin blade with a thick upper part of the blade

  The handle shape allows delicate use in many ways safely , the grip is just amazing the texture doesn't feel rough but it grips so incredibly well its difficult to describe ( included close up pics of the textured handle) the two small gently sloping indents for your fingers is just fantastic.  Having a mount point on the back that can easily be used with some para cord is great and i will make use of that. Ill be installing a small bit of orange safety reflective 550 cord on it with a TEC accessories glow FOB in orange of course :-) , a useful accessory imo , they also offer titanium model as well and even another titanium model that makes use of tritium inserts ( type of stuff that just glows all the time no matter what) .  The clip is very firm and feels secure keeping knife in my front pocket , i have to pull with force to remove it from my pocket which is what i want

Best Knife i have owned for many years

 This will meet most of your work, hunting and survival needs and is an excellent choice as an all around EDC. This is a heavy duty knife to get work done. If you are looking for a fast fancy flipping tactical knife, this is not the knife for you. If you need a tough knife to get work done, I highly recommend the Ultimate Hunter

 I carried and still have the original SRK, and several Cold Steel models with S35VN blades. They hold a great edge and I only need to make a few passes on my ceramic honer once or twice a month if I am using one of the knives regularly to keep a fine edge. At under $90, it is not just a deal, it is a steal! The Ultimate Hunter comes with a flat saber grind, not a convex grind. That is a plus as far as I am concerned

Why spend $50 for a cheap knock off knife made with low quality parts. Spend a few dollars more and get this Ultimate Hunter from Cold Steel before they are gone. American S35VN steel that has proven itself on a solid Cold Steel platform with a lock up that can't be beat. If you take care of this knife, it might be the last folder you will ever need to buy

 If you are looking for a fast fancy flipping tactical knife, this is not the knife for you. If you need a tough knife to get work done, I highly recommend the Ultimate Hunter.
