I was finally driving the MK 750 from around the start of 2018 up until really recently when I switched from the Mk 750 to a Logitech keyboard. and the main reason why I switch to the Logitech keyboard is because the Logitech keyboard is Wireless And yeah, it's not to say that the MK 750 is a bad keyboard, it's an excellent keyboard, but my use case change and I'm sure this happens with you guys as well

 and I've always really liked this type of solution. Now the construction is pretty good too and it's got this aluminium top plate with a floating key cap design. It's got RGB accents along both of the sides and along the bottom where the magnetic recess attaches. And yeah, it's literally identical to the MK 750 in every single way

So I wanted to see if the things that I liked about the MK 750 translated into its 10 Killers brother the MK 730 and if I could use a 10 keyless keyboard as my preferred keyboard for gaming. Cooler Master MK730: Should You Switch to a TKL Keyboard for Gaming?

 The keyboard itself is compact and sturdy. The included USB C cable is great. The only thing of questionable build quality is the cheapish feeling magnetic wrist strap, which is fine but decidedly cheap feeling compared to the keyboard itself. Also, it would be nice if the keyboard included a travel case to keep it and the wrist pad safe in transit

 So I'm going to skip over the RGP "gee wiz" stuff, the colorful keycaps, etc.  First things first. This keyboard is a dream for a typist. The keys are tactile enough for a pleasant feedback, but still easy to press

Too loud for an office but a great typing experience

 That means you get an attached cable that's rubberized. That center-mounted build quality here still feels good though. Same floating key cap design, same minimal approach. but you get these little side wings like you see on the full-size version of this board

You still get the brush their blasted aluminum top and you still get perky

 By the time we've angled that board up and replaced it with an OEM profile, we've kind of lost the way on the whole low profile thing. These switches have a little bit of rotation to them too, so the square cabs can look ask you instead of uniform and the ABS material shows oil really bad. You get this crinkly tin foil thing every time you depress the spacebar and it's one of those sounds that like once you notice it, you can't shake it. Lastly, the USBC connector here doesn't really inspire confidence

 so this is not an enjoyable typing experience for me. And the flat profile trick leaky caps don't help this. Something feels off about the spacing between the keys as well. I've measured and measured and they seem to be the same spacing as a standard keyboard, but something here just feels off to me

 I didn't really want my keyboard to show a fireworks display while I was typing, but you can barely read the keycaps if the lighting is off, so I selected the "static" profile, which sets all the keys to a single color. The problem with this is that the Caps Lock lighting no longer reflects the current state of the key -- it changes briefly when you hit the key, then reverts to the static lighting. This is fine on a keyboard with a dedicated caps lock light, but really dumb here. (Solution: select the "custom" profile, and then drag-select the entire keyboard to set all the keys to the same thing

It's okay

 While it can now be found for around $100 this board has an MSRP of a hundred and thirty. If you're deep into the world of super high-end keyboards, that's pretty cheap. But back on planet Earth it's a decent chunk of money for a keyboard, and for most of the people buying this, it's probably the first time they've ever spent this much on a keyboard. Thankfully, Coolermaster seems to recognize this as they've clearly put some effort into making it a pleasant experience from the second you open the box

 After a few months of use, there is some significant visual wear on the surface, but I can't feel it while using it. However, I do wish that the magnets that attach it to the board were a bit stronger. Moving on to the bottom, we see four rubber feet which do their job well and the back to double is lifts if that's your thing. Additionally, Coolermaster were kind enough to not only make the cable removable, but to also make it USB type C On the keyboard end, we also get three different ways to route the cable

 For the price point, it's pleasant to look at. Everything feels nice, and there's no outrageous or tryhard design elements. Everything is sensible and standard. much like the Corsair K series or really most gaming keyboards these days, it's using this exposed floating switch design

Cooler Master MK730 (Cherry MX Red) Review: The Gold Standard

 They still perform as normal but I naturally hit the shift key constantly. A better design for the numbers would be to have a large number to the left and a smaller symbol to the right slightly smaller. Or, reverse the switch itself so the number can be on the bottom as usual.  The other two symbol keys suffer from the lighting issue but are at least correctly oriented

The cherry brown switches and general build quality is good. Wrist wrest is useless but that's not a big deal. Its a great size and feel for coding and gaming. The included PBT caps for the WASD add a nice flair

 It's awesome.  But really, who makes a new product that does LESS than the old one? If the function was already there, why not just keep it in the product?  It's a shame, really, because otherwise it feels nice, types nice and looks nice. I've had my old keyboard for a long time and type on it every day. It's a quality product and this one feels very similar

  My (very very minor) complaint is with the keycaps. I bought the TKL version, and on the number keys (the second row from the top), the number is printed at the top of key and and symbol (that you get with the shift key) is at the bottom. This is HERESY! In every keyboard I've seen in the last 30 years (like the Logi in my pic), the default key (which you get without hitting shift) is at the bottom. In fact, on this keyboard, some the other keys are printed that way - for example, the "? /" key has the slash (correctly) at the bottom

It's a good keyboard. I'm not amazed by the MX Cherry Brown switches, as they're a little scratchy and almost imperceptibly tactile, but that's not the keyboard's fault. Good keyboard, but with one small flaw

The rubber feet are relatively smooth so this keyboard can slide if placed on a relatively smooth surface. The wrist rest is excellent and has an almost leather-like feel. Overall a good keyboard with good switches, although they are louder than I'd like. The choice of colors and effects for key lighting is nice and I really appreciate being able to set the key lighting to 10 different brightness levels
