Corsair ML120 and ML140 Magnetic Levitation Fan Review

This is sick but I don't agree with the fan choice... I tried the Corsair ML120 Pro and thought they were unbearably noisy

5900x and 6900xt

Too loud for me.

I was browsing eBay for an NME fan to replace my loud Nidec, and I found a Delta! I can't hear the ps5 at all now unless I put my ear against it.

 It's hard to justify the cost spent on these fans due to their mediocre cooling performance and poor noise performance. If they had added features like cable sleeving or rubber grommets to offset some of the negatives and justify the price tag, maybe these would've got a higher rating.  TL;DR - When people say loud in the other reviews, they mean it. As it stands, unless you need really log fan cables, or need a fan with this specific cement grey color, I suggesting you pass on these mediocre maglev fans - there are better performing, quieter options out there at a lower cost

+PWM +Long cables  -Mediocre performance for the cost and long list of cons below -Extremely loud when pushing any sort of realistic levels of airflow -Audible, annoying, higher-pitched humming at certain RPMs (even as low as 40% duty cycle) -No rubber grommets provided -No cable sleeving  As static pressure fans, these are mediocre at best in terms of performance, but extremely loud in order to get there. Somewhat expanded RPM range compared to competitors, but you can't even use it because, past ~1600 RPM, the fans require hearing protection if you want to occupy the same room. At certain RPM levels there's an audible and annoying hum that I've only been able to eliminate by manually tweaking the fan curve to prevent it from resting at those RPM levels. No rubber grommets means that you're likely to hear increased vibration noises as the fan harmonizes annoyingly with your case, especially if you're installing the fan to a thinner fan mounting point (think top of case)

  With the single fan, the noise only really gets bad at 100 rpm. Also pc reports 1900-2000 rpm as max, not 1600 as stated in product information. So 97 cfm at 2000 rpm. But the fan is much quieter around 50% - 65% rpm

 I eventually tracked the problem to the fan doing the pull, as soon as I removed it from the configuration the noise level dropped considerably. The fan doing the push still provides plenty of forceful air through the radiator.  With the single fan, the noise only really gets bad at 100 rpm. Also pc reports 1900-2000 rpm as max, not 1600 as stated in product information

Great fans for push, terrible fans for pull.

 And that's my point about the fact that these fans can spin to 2000 RPM or 2400 RPM, which is that quite bluntly, I don't much care. My takeaway from that is that if you want to operate your fans at that speed, you're either a sucker for punishment and or you're running the wrong processor. If you're not using LGA 2011 Core i7 and you're faffing around with the cooling, move your platform, sort out your X99 motherboard, X790 if you must, and then you can worry about the fine details. So there we go

 The fact they cost a fair amount of money, that is a bit unfortunate, but I can live with that because I'm thinking in terms of you buying two of these babies to go on your liquid cooler rather than packing out your entire case with the blessed things. What you'd do far better do is to buy a case such as this Be Quiet and just use the stock Be Quiet case fans. That'll save you 60 quid right there. Overall, I like the new fans provided you can park the ML aspect of it and focus on the goodies

 £20, that LED, £22 with a lot of money, and if you're there for to put these fans in this case £100 worth, which is clearly a lot of money, and frankly a bit silly. What these fans bring to the party, a massive range of speeds. The 120s go from 400rpm to 2400rpm, the 140mm 400rpm to 2000rpm, a colossal range. Now the marketing sort of suggests that because of the magnetic levitation bearing, they can spin to this higher speed, and you don't suffer the noise because of the clever technology

 Therefore, the voltage is varying, that's the point. And Corsair is adamant on the case fans, the liquid cooler is fine. On the case fans, therefore, as I crank up the fan controller, the lights will change and you'll hear the noise difference. And here we go with the microphone near the case fans
