Cotopaxi Tarak Del Dia 20L Climbing Pack Review

 It's pretty great at being a small daypack for all of those things. It's a pretty great carry on for the plane, because it's narrow enough that my feet can stretch out on either side when it's under the seat in front of me. The inner zipper pocket is a great place for keys, wallet, etc. The pocket in the lid is just right for a steel-pint-sized mug

 And like I said, it's on sale now for 50 bucks on Cotopaxi. And Cotopaxi does help nonprofits with all their sales, so they're really stand-up company and really transparent about the work that they do. Oh, and I forgot to mention, these straps here kind of compress the whole pack down. You can tighten them or loosen them as you want, so if you're not carrying as much, it's nice to have that more pack down or you can loosen it to fit some more stuff in there

Today I'll be reviewing the Cotopaxi Tarak 20 litre climbing pack. So if you're looking at the pack, it does have a drawstring opening with a top lid that buckles out as well as a front pocket that stands the length of the pack. The lid has another pocket up here as well. As you open it, there's another inside pocket that comes out

I do have one annoying issue. I am using hydration pack on all my day hikes and although this pack do have hydration pack sleeve the design of the opening for the sipping tube is plan wrong. The tube needs to go up, then go around the mesh pocket in order to get to the opening that is exactly in the middle above the mesh pocket. Then it needs to go down in order to get around the flap that is going quit a bit down the sides on this pack

Great pack with one bad design issue

 I Had this thing packed out with way more weight than I would carry on the day. Anything in this thing's it felt comfortable. I've you have to actually use it because I've just got it tonight on an actual day hiker and you think so? I Can't say for sure but I can tell you I mean I know a lot about backpacks in this thing is gonna. it's gonna work out just fine I mean it feels very very good

 It's gonna work out as a good travel bag. a day hike bag big enough for any traveling that I'm gonna do up to a week more I mean I pack very small I was running a Osprey daylight which is only 13 liters I was using as my travel pack pack and everything I need to go on four or five day trips for vacation. something up backpacking obviously with no issues and so this is 20 litres. it's gonna allow me to hold a little bit more

 the way that you stow your trekking poles. Not that I use them, but it's actually a pocket down here. So you put your poles into the pocket and put it up through these straps, these arms and your edge straps. here

 So I don't know. We'll see if we got some more stuff coming out from them and take it from there. Alright guys, thanks for watching I'll say bye she's wearing my hiking boots.

I bought this bag as a new day pack for 7-10 mile hikes and short travel days and took it on an 8 mile hike a couple days later. The bag was comfortable throughout the hike, fit well, and held all I needed. Upon arriving home, I noticed the fabric on the lefthand side was pilling significantly, almost to the point of tearing, despite not having rubbed against anything during the hike. I was able to resolve it with Cotopaxi but I would be hesitant to purchase again without checking the fabric scraps at the back very carefully to ensure they are sturdy enough for hiking

 And another really cool thing about it is that every single backpack is different. but if you have any valuables that you want to put in it it is under this flap so you have to like untie it just right there and then it has its main compartment as a drawstring and as you can see there is like all of my stuff and uh I wasn't sure how I would feel about the drawstring opening at first because all of my backpacks school bags everything like that. I use a North Face for my regular school bag for everyday purposes and it's just, you know, like a regular backpack, it just zips at the top so I wasn't sure how I would feel about this and this is something like I don't know how I feel about like it's not a pain, it's not bad, but like sometimes when I'm just like trying to see what's in it and then like I have to like I don't know, open it all the way but I feel like you can fit more things in it with this because then you can have it because I still have um a good amount of room. even though this does seem full, I have a good around room to fit some more things in it as well

 Um, or bear spray here in Montana and so that's kind of annoying. Um, because I do like to just have it sitting right there because I don't want to put my water bottle in my backpack. So that's why I have this carabiner right here. and that's where I had to put my water bottle, um, on a daily basis

 Which is kind of annoying because once you have this and like, I've been traveling with this so being in an airport and it's already pretty big and going down the airplane aisle and then you just have, I have my huge water bottle. just like swinging on the side, It's just kind of annoying and I wish they had pockets for it. but I know other styles of their backpack have pockets, but not all of them. which I don't know why, but that would be one thing I would change about it

 and then inside it has a little sleeve for your hydration bladder as well as like a little mesh part and then a little velcro opening as well. So there's two little pockets inside um where you would put and I've been honestly putting my laptop and stuff in it. so I've been using it for school as well. So it has two pockets there

I modified it right away to make it more ridge. The compression strap would be better if they were buckles that could release so that you could attach rope without have to feed it thru the top every time. Also, the hydration hose port is not practical. 

Looks great lacks functionality

 I've had a ton of compliments on this pack and I really like the color variation that this came in. This packet may be a bit small for taking to the crag or carrying the full rack, but for light and fast days in the Alpine or just a quick scramble, this has been really perfect for that. I Also really appreciate the simplicity of this pack. It has just enough features to be useful and nothing more than that
