I paid full price for this on Amazon. I saw the other reviews and I just wanted to give it a shot. I was looking for a knife to throw in a bug-out bag and also a knife that I could use to chop up some wood in the backyard and clear out some weeds or anything else

 Now I have been using this CRKT Kuk in the back yard to process firewood and Baton things and really just throwing it around. I have not tried to sharpen it yet because, quite frankly, the edge was pretty phenomenal out of the box, and I really did not dull it up until this point. I'Ve been abusing this knife pretty good and it's shown no signs of extreme wear of chipping or anything like that and overall, I will let you guys know right up front. I really really am enjoying this cookery style knife

So I figured I'd, give it a shot, and I'm definitely happy that I did you'll notice that the powder coat finish on the steel itself has started to wear slightly with the amount of abuse that I have put this knife through over the past couple of weeks

 Now I do have a couple of other CRKT folding knives in the collection, and I've always really enjoyed their stuff, but this is actually the very first fixed blade I've ever gotten from crkt, and I hear that the biggest value that CRKT offers is in their larger, Fixed knife options, along with their machetes and different hatchets, and everything like that. They really give you a great bang for your buck. CRKT KUK First Impressions!

I just returned a Kukri Knife from Gurkha House because when tested cutting hard wood, the edge became wiggly due to poor hardness. This one passed the test with colors, Very hard steel, but can be resharpened and make it razor sharp without showing weakness of the sharp edge. Only regret: poor weight, that translate in resonance in your wrist while shopping hard wood.

Good for the money

 Now I'm just kidding not really, but it's an easy thing to show. You know, because of the shape of it, how the spine is straight, then it dips down, because if the kukri has a recurve, so it has to be shaped that way. You know it's not the easiest thing to get a square hit on wellbut awning, but of course you can make do here's a survival thing. You can dig with this because you know it's a relatively wide blade

 This is also just a test of the durability of the blade. Alright, I'm sorry for the the trucks. In the background, that's the recycling truck yeah saving the earth, but what about the noise pollution of the truck that they haven't oiled in ten years? Am i bitter there's airplanes too? They fly them over my house just to ruin my review. No, I'm kidding I'm kidding not that paranoid

 I definitely recommend all three of those tomahawks and I will include Amazon links if you want to pick up those, and you can check out my previous reviews. You know a lot of people will buy budget folders from CRKT. But, to be honest with you for that company, the best values are usually their tomahawks and their machetes. Just my opinion

CRKT Kuk Kukri Review, Testing Out My 10.55 Inch Kuk ...

 Cleaned right up with one swipe on a quick sharpener.  I'd like to see how this holds up with use over time, and may provide an update to my review later.  Pros: good weight and balance Good edge retention Comfortable grip  Cons: Asymmetrical grinds on blade Feels somewhat fragile compared to other CRKT products

 I spent a whole day using it to clear tall overgrown grass, brush, and thick thorn bushes (about a half inch to an inch diameter) and the edge heald up really well. No major deformation and a very minor roll. Cleaned right up with one swipe on a quick sharpener.  I'd like to see how this holds up with use over time, and may provide an update to my review later

So, I have owned a CRKT Tomahawk for about 10 years now, and it's one of the most dependable backpacking/outdoor tools I've ever owned. When I started to look for a machete, I was pleased to find that CRKT made something that fit what I was looking for, and purchased this without a second thought.  My disappointment comes in the quality of the grinds on the KUK. The grind on the spine is VERY asymmetric, and overall the blade feels rather flimsy in comparison to the construction of my Tomahawk

I don't know if it's a change in production standards, material, or design, but overall construction seems like it has room for improvement. I feel confident using force with my Tomahawk, but that is where the KUK falls short

Good blade for the money, but could be better

 I know it's made from a more expensive steel than Gurkha knifemakers typically use, and all that, but when you swing a khukuri you're swinging something that's got a lot in common to swinging a hatchet, in terms of weight and center of balance. That mass, that weight, is crucial to making the khukuri as fearsome and as effective as it is. By comparison the KUK feels more like a machete that's bent at the end. It just lacks the khukuri heft and balancing, that sense of striking power

Solid bush tool

  I did notice some minor chipping on the blade after the first couple hours of use, but I am not sure what caused it. Rest of the blade is solid, so only time will tell if this is indicative of other issues.
