The M4-02S Stag is a deluxe model which has a traditional look with stag scales and brushed stainless steel bolsters. 

While we were engineering it, we decided to add some more value by offering our Outburst assisted opening, and our locking liner safety innovation adds an ingenious layer of safety to your folding knife. The safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. 

To engage the safety, push the manual safety lever forward. To close the knife, pull the manual lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Many CRKT folders feature this innovative safety system.

The Outburst mechanism instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. M4 models have dual thumb studs for ambidextrous one-hand opening and bronze bearings and lubrous washers at the adjustable blade pivot for smooth, fast action. 

The 3.25" blade is a high-hollow-grind drop point of premium 8Cr13MoV stainless steel in a bead-blast finish with a Razor-Sharp edge.

 You can see the etching on it and you can see the swedge it's good on piercing and it does also have a good, a good sweep to it for a draw cut. It'S nice and thick. That'S a thicker blade than you would expect on a knife of this size. It does have teflon bushings and there is here a a pocket clip which is removable, although it is not reversible or swappable

 Every time just works good. I, like it technical specs here 3.25 inch, blade, that's made of 8 CR 13 MOV steel, it does have a hollow grind and the Rockwell hardness is 58 to 59. It'S a liner, lock knife, the handle is made, it is burl, wood scales and the weight is 4

 And what that does. Is that moves a piece of steel up against the side of the liner lock, so the liar cannot be moved and the blade can't be closed once you move this rearward again like so then the liner lock can be moved and the blade can be closed. That'S how that works. Take a look at that blade there

 That'S the assisted opening mechanism that CRKT calls it out burst. This knife has that it also comes with a pamphlet about the rest of their knife, catalog and all the other things CRKT offers great good reading there. It'S a medium small knife. This is not a large knife, but I would say it is certainly good in the everyday carry pocket knife type genre, its assistant opener works real

Pretty knife but...

 Getting a handle made of g10 bolt with the g10 bolster and a natural bone handle back spacer there. Your pocket clip is gon na, be a steel pocket, clip that is gon na be right hand tip down carry so those are your basic specs and it does come in at about 3.3 ounces. That'S a plate HQ actually kind of feels a little bit heavier, but I'm gon na go with what they say

 This way there's a little bit of chip there right in the end of the blade. I probably work that out, so I'm not too worried about it, but it's something of know that I think it came this way with that little bit of a chip. You know it's a little bit of a funny grind right there on the tip as well anyway. So so those are some of the things I like about the knife

Hey guys and welcome back so today, I'm gon na be taking a look at the CRKT M 402. This is a Kit Carson design the spring assist at night. He is the designer that did the m16 for CRKT, so I'm gon na go over kind of the good, the bad and the ugly today about this knife. Give you my thoughts and impressions, though here we go [, Music, ] all right

 I think this is a handsome knife. I love this g10 bolster with this bone handle kind of going over some of the reviews online. There were some apparently some quality control issues with fit and finish with this phone. I understand that it's a natural bone, so there may be blemishes and flaws in it, but mine seems to let me see if I can get this focus

CRKT M4-02 Review: Handsome But Dangerous / Buyer Heads Up

 On the inside i can see a screw covered in burrs, looks like they didn't bother to tap it first. The blade itself is sharp however there is a small nick 2/3 the way to the tip. The blade locking feature is a fail IMO. It locks it open but not closed from coming open in my pocket

 I find this combination to be both stable and smooth. I find the nylon gives it a little bit of a smooth feel and a kind of a lubricated feel while the steel washer gives it a little bit more stability. So you can actually tighten this up just a little bit more than you could regular tighten up if you had like a steel steel washer or a bronze bronze washer. So it gets tightened up very nicely

 Now I mean this is a older design. This is probably from the mid 2000s and to be honest yeah tip down was really the way to go back in the day but right now I think tip up is the way to go. But it would have been very hard to manage a tip up if you had the clip over here and then have screws and everything. It would have been a mess dealing with a material like stag antler that can be either out this way or in this way

 Now this is a knife that I've been hunting for for about two or three years and I finally picked one up for $38. Now originally these were for sale for about $28 to $30 and for a knife that has genuine stag handles, that is a pretty darn good deal. Now this one I got cheap because it had this branding on it, I'm probably going to try and remove that, but this is the reason why I hunted for this. The handle scales are made out of stag and for me I just find this knife to be incredibly appealing

 I mean people are asking a lot more money for the stag one just because they're harder to find and for me I bought this one just because it has the branding on here it was just a little bit cheaper but for me I wanted it because of the stag it kind of reminds me of a old school knife while being new school.  I do not know if working the action back and forth and adding a little lubricant with fix the problem. You can feel how tight the spring is against the blade. I understand it is new and may need a little time. May send it back

Great looking but assisted opening does not work.

 If you did carry it almost looks classy very sharp. The only thing you hear when you release it it's very stiff takes about. Maybe I think I count about 100 releases for things to kind of you know loosen up a little bit, so it's a little bit easier, but the first 1020 times was very difficult to release the blade anyway other than that. But then in comments

 You almost got ta, do almost on top color release, right-handed users, just as easy to the point leave. The blade is very sharp when it comes in as an EDC. That'S what I carry it as it's very nice, not like some of the more military-style the knives out there. This is more for, if you're working in a cubicle, it's great

 You know I can push it like that. Get your belt clip from left-handed users. You almost got ta, do almost on top color release, right-handed users, just as easy to the point leave. The blade is very sharp when it comes in as an EDC

 One of the features here it has. The locks system also has the locking liner here all right press that in to close the blade now, a block system I'll show here, because I'm lefty is a assisted release like that I'll show you what that means here, no ice here, there's a little pin here In the back a little spring, so if I were to retract the blade you can see it so now, when I retract it a little bit of resistance here, you can see little spring helps to release it like that. There'S also a little liner-lock here to make it almost like a fixed blade, virtual fix blade, so you can lock it like that, show you what that looks like here. Just take a look here and you'll see the little pin slide down

 What you think, if you have this blade or other blades, are equivalent and kind of like this for everyday carry for work. It'S pretty nice. I like it. Let me know what you think: 

Initial Review CRKT M4-02W Folding Knife

Yes i cut myself and it was not pretty. if it was a little longer in length ...

Has decently sharp blade upon arrival. The handles are to wide for comfortable pocket carry using the clip in either the front or back pockets. Had problems with unlocking it to fold as a small piece of metal in the hinge area needed to be moved with a sharp thin object before it would close. Had this happen 3 times now
