 Your joy will be (relatively) easy to come by. Cloning an existing drive, on the other hand, is a hassle of Brobdingnagian proportions. For best results, make sure your target and destination drives are exactly the same capacity, skip the frustrating and buggy Acronis software entirely and download something like Macrium Reflect. Not only is it also free, but it actually works and is not entirely impossible to figure out

The hour+ I spent with steam coming out of my ears trying to get Acronis to do anything at all was wasted time. Macrium installed in a few minutes and in less than 10 minutes of tinkering and reading their online help pages, I was cloning my old drive to my new drive

 3. If you must clone, don't use Acronis, because it probably won't work anyway. Regardless of which program you buy/download, read the instructions carefully and take your time.

Initial impressions are mixed: drive seems like a decent value, but it's very delicate. And the instructions are utter garbage.

 While I have seen some SSDs at work go significantly (but not drastically) above and beyond their write endurance rating over the years (while at least 5 years old or younger), I have also had SSDs at home fail after about 6 years with tonnes of read errors while still well below their rated P/E cycle limit. Single or software RAID you probably have much better chance as my single SSD drive machines see 10 - 50x less writes to the physical media. Something that makes this acceptable for my RAID setup is even if the use was inline with my single drive systems, SSDs seem to have a limited shelf life. So with some tweaks I am fairly confident that I pushed down the writing to media down enough to see a full life of these drives as I suspect age will get them first like what has happened with all of my older flash media

 Otherwise it would be cheaper to get enterprise class drives with full capacitor backup, generous over-provisioning already configured, and a reasonably high DWPD rating (at least 0.5 or higher depending on workload and probably 1.0 or more) as even for home use so you can get through the warranty period without voiding it way too early by exceeding the P/E cycle rating of the drives. Please note I am using these drives on a home computer and I have had a lot of non computer related distractions as of late, so am not banging on these anywhere near as hard as I would have in the past

I have over 2,000 hours of operation at the time of this writing on a 4 disk array of these in a hardware RAID 5 on a MegaRAID 9361-8i controller. On the plus side this has partial power loss protection and RAIN protections and it looks like it covers what it needs to while the controller with RAID controller BBU covers the rest. They are also really fast and especially in a 4 disk RAID the performance is quite impressive.  One thing I am finding out is hardware RAID tends not to support TRIM

Looking to buy 2TB SSD, which one is the best and best value?

INSTALL: Installed in Dell e6430 laptop. Replaced 1TB/7200rpm HGST HDD (a great, fast HDD). Cloned HDD>SSD using the provided Acronis software after installing SSD into external SATA case and initializing SSD. No problems noted; drive (w/spacer) fit into the original (rubber) drive rails; cloning process worked flawlessly - took about 3 hours to clone ~700GB of data across - Acronis accurately replicated partitions from original HDD onto SSD and SSD booted immediately when installed

 UPDATE: Ran across several articles indicating enabling "Momentum Cache" may not be appropriate for "average users" (which I am) - so I DISABLED it. This box actually runs noticeably faster without Momentum Cache enabled. 8GB of matched Samsung DRAM (2 x 4GB) on board so I don't think the RAM is particularly slow - so at this point I used Storage Executive SW to enable a 10% OP but have Momentum Cache disabled.

 Have not run the numbers yet; the e6430 is definitely quicker to boot but the Hitachi Travelstar was such a fast HDD; with only an 8 mw power draw at rest; that the performance/battery gains are not what I'd call "amazing". Contemplating sending it back and buying a Samsung 850.  I installed it my laptop and it booted right up. Now my two year old laptop is like a new computer. Boots up very quickly. Apps load lightning fast

 Even web browsing is smooth and fast. My drive utilization was pinned at 100% all the time and my computer kept locking up. Now it's at 0-15% and everything really fast. Nice not to hear the hard drive chirping away
