Coffee gift mistakes

  There are some downsides to this grinder depending on the intended coffee method. For drip or French Press, works great. If grinding for Espresso or Turkish style coffee, I would not recommend. The grinder is on the loud side, so if you don't want to wake up your house mates in the morning you may want to skip this grinder

As for me, I have preground espresso roast that I buy from the store and all of the people I live with are out of the house by the time I grind my coffee. From what research I have done on BURR style grinders, there really is no other option in the price range of the Cuisinart DBM-8 that will solve the problems mentioned above

Grinding for drip machines as well as French Press works fine, as both the medium and coarse settings seem ...

So for the past \~2 weeks my brews were all bitter and kinda flavorless. I thought it might be something wrong with my process, grind size, ratios and ultimately my cheap fake-burr DeLonghi KG79 grinder, so I started looking for a better grinder (ordered a Comandante, hope it'll arrive soon).  
Anyway, I was not satisfied with waiting drinking close-to-horrible coffee until then, so I thought... hmm, maybe it's time to clean it.  


So I took the ^(fake) burr out and whaddya know, the whole place was filled with very fine coffee dust (it did smell great but but that's the only positive) so I brushed it off as good as I could with a fine toothbrush and today I brewed another one and guess what? IT WAS FINALLY A DECENT BREW, with flavor notes (although *maybe* I'm finally starting to understand how inconsistent grinding affects the taste). In any case, it's enjoyable and I can happily wait for the new one.  


**TL;DR:** If your brews started being consistently bad, although there was a time when you got them right almost every time, it might be time to clean your grinder (especially if it's a fake-burr, probably, since these make even more powder grinds). It might require special care when taking it apart/putting it back together, depending on model, but in my case it fixed my problem.

I have a Lelit Bianca espresso machine with a Niche grinder.  The Niche grinder is great for espresso, but I just don't think it's coarse enough for cold brew.  I don't want to spend a lot of money on a separate cold brew grinder, but any advice on a cold brew grinder that grinds VERY coarse?
