Continuing with our series on budget cordless vacuum cleaners, I'm happy to be reviewing the Dirt Devil reach max plus we put it through a lot of tests, and this is our review based on the results, links in the description and, let's get started, the Dirt Devil reach Max Plus, cordless vacuum, cleaner has a lot going for it. Besides, it's very cheap price tag. It comes with an interesting assortment of attachments, including an onboard crevice tool, a powered stair tool which has an adjustable swivel and an adjustable front plate which can be used to vacuum the vertical portion of stairs it has two power modes: a low and high power. The high power is accessed by pressing the power button twice

 The only issue with its carpet pickup is the same issue you're going to have with just about every cordless vacuum, which is that, because of its softer bristles, it doesn't have as much in the way of agitation as a standard vacuum cleaner, which means that it's not Going to deep clean the carpet as good as an upright don't get me wrong. The Dirt Devil does as good or better at deep cleaning carpets than most cordless vacuums, but it's still limited in what it can do. I was expecting to really dislike the hard floor performance of the reach Max Plus, because there's no way to turn off the brush roll, which usually means that it will scatter debris, but maybe because of the soft bristles or the rubber seal on the cleaner head. It didn't do this at all

Dirt Devil Reach Max Plus Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Review

  I have 2 kids and a short-haired dog, and my floors get messy on a daily basis. We have hardwoods in the living room, dining room, kitchen, and main hallway, as well as the stairs and foyer. I have an 8' x 10' area rug in the living room as well. This little gem vacuums it all with ease, and the fact that it's cordless means I can literally use it anywhere I need to

 This makes storage a challenge since it's top-heavy and doesn't stand up well on its own. I just lay mine on the floor out of sight between the wall and the love-seat in my living room.  Overall, this is the perfect tool for me to keep my house tidy. I'd recommend checking the Dirt Devil out before spending a ton more on fancier models

 Noise is moderate but not terrible. Let's just say I wouldn't vacuum while the baby was napping.  I do have two main issues with my vacuum, which is why I gave it 4 stars (I couldn't give it 4.5, or I would have): 1

 This means you need to inspect the canister before each use and probably spend a few minutes removing the canister and taking it apart to clean the debris out of the choke point. The second problem is that the diameter of the corrugated flexible tube that the debris passes through between the beater bar and the stick is too small, so it tends to get clogged with the same stuff that will clog the choke point in the canister. So, you should frequently check that by removing the beater bar from the unit and inspecting the flexible tube. Without those shortcomings this would be a great product; as it is, it is a good product

 As I mentioned, there are two design flaws which negatively impact the effectiveness of the vacuum and necessitate very frequent cleaning of the canister and inspection of the beater bar to maintain peak operating performance. The first problem is that when debris enters the canister, it has to make a 90 degree turn, so any sort of pet hair, carpet fiber or dust will become trapped at that choke point and clog the system. This means you need to inspect the canister before each use and probably spend a few minutes removing the canister and taking it apart to clean the debris out of the choke point. I have had my Reach Max for over a year, and except for two design flaws I would give it five stars. But first, the good points: light weight (albeit top heavy), very maneuverable, effective beater bar, can run about 10-15 minutes depending on the power level. It thoroughly cleans short- and mid-pile carpeting on high power; does an adequate job on bare floors but may require several passes. Great for quick cleanups

A handy vac with some design flaws

I like Dirt Devil products I currently own a dirt devil upright Jaguar (which replaced my Pet Flex) which I like so much that I bought another one for my mother who only used Hoover brand vacuums until she got her Jaguar (she gave her Hoover to her neighbor). I also own 2 handheld ULTRAS that I use constantly in my work areas. But I loved my reach max I am a custom miniaturist and prototype fabricator - I love the max for cleaning my workbenches and floor twice a day (two full cannisters of dust, scraps, etc etc) in fact - I am on my second unit (having worn out the first with constant hard usage for over a year) and was quite pleased with my favorite go-to quick cleaner upper UNTIL my new assistant accidently threw out the F109 filter two days ago while cleaning the dust cannister the required F109 filter replacement CANNOT be found ANY WHERE ANY PLACE not even HERE! RUT ROW! I was just fixing to get a 16v Lithium handheld - until I plugged in "replacement filters" and saw the repeated posts of people having the same problem - no filters any where I contacted customer service and I am sure I will find a filter somewhere. Then I will use my Dirt Devils until they wear out but I am NOT going to replace them I am going to do some research and find what compatable brands/models have the best availability of parts and then I will buy those brands/models I love my Dirt Devil vacs - but I honestly cannot recommend them to others due the above

LOVE the vacuum HATE no F109 filters available

 I was very careful to use the filters and keep them clean. Just hard to do. 4. Do I really want to fill the landfills with a constant stream of broken stick vacuums?

 I might get another one if I think I need a vacuum. At$100 each, one can afford to replace them after a year or so, I suppose. Less expensive than hiring a maid. Good: Works well at first

 I took it to a vacuum repair shop which worked with Dirt Devil. Dirt Devil sent them a replacement cord and after 4 weeks I got reunited with my hand vacuum. Other than this unpleasent experience, I like it very much. As long as I keep cleaning the filters it sucks very well and very easy to use in place of an upright vacuum every time

 It save time and effort. I took two stars off for the weak recharging cord. With a better cord it would make a 5 stars appliance.

 I was able to use the smaller attachment with the thick pet hair on the couch, that worked well but the regular vacuum with the extending brush was a no-go for us.  For other clean up it works well, I was just disappointed with how it picked up (or didn't pick up) clumpy pet hair.

 This vacuum did not work well with thick clumpy pet hair at all and kept getting stuck in the cup so I had to keep unclogging it. It was easier to pick it up the clumpy hair with my hands. Works for some pet hair and not for others

While this vacuum has good suction, the design makes it very awkward to handle. The removable handheld vac is on the top of the stick. This makes it top heavy. I find that after 2 minutes my shoulder hurts from the strain of the weight of the motor in the handheld vac

Unbalanced Design

 It was 2 weeks before the refund/reorder process ended and I had a "new" one.. I was so happy to finally get to vacuum my house that I didn't realize it was missing the small head until now. Plus the replacement was $20 more! It does a pretty good job of vacuuming EXCEPT popcorn--it spits it back to me
