Dyson V11 Animal

I have all wood floors in my apartment, so while I could have opted for a roomba type vacuum, I wanted something that could clean other surfaces too. I opted for the Dyson V11 Animal, but I’m sure there are other cheaper models that are similarly effective.

Not many people would think of any vacuum cleaner as particularly sexy (unless the Jetsons' Rosie the Robot counts) but Dyson's family of cordless stick vacuums comes close. The V11 is the latest and greatest stick vacuum from Dyson, and the V11 Torque Drive landed in CNET's list of best cordless vacuums of 2020. That vacuum's cousin, the Animal, is designed with pets in mind

I have 1000 sqft of carpet and 1000 sqft of tile that I broom. We have 5 giant dogs. I got the Dyson Animal upright vacuum because I thought that it would keep up with all of the dirt and pet hair but I kept ending up with suction issues and clogs and electrical issues. A couple trips to the vacuum repair shop later and it had a new vacuum head from a third party that was .... horrendous....

The Dyson V11 Animal is a cordless stick/handheld vacuum. It has a great overall performance on most surface types, from bare floors to high-pile carpets. If you use it as a handheld vacuum with its lowest power setting, the battery provides over an hour of continuous use, great if you're vacuuming your car or another far-off place

You have to empty it more, but it is so easy to just whip out and vacuum our rugs in the living room/dining room. It is easy to clean and I think it does a great job.

It takes less than 10 minutes to do my kitchen, the dog's pen, my bathroom and laundry. I usually have to empty or refill the water containers once, then I disassemble at the end, wash the microfibre roller with bar soap, and put it in a sunny spot to dry. The underfoot feel of the clean floor is amazing (a bit addictive!). I thought it would make less work of mopping--it hasn't, really, but instead my floors are much cleaner than they were and I am happier.

to turn back on the vacuum and go back and forth a few times to suck all the hair back in. **Reliability** \- It's hard to talk about the reliability after a month, but I have to say that the construction and materials used are top notch. The main frame is aluminum, plastics used for the floor brush and the main unit are also not the cheap ones, hard but elastic enough to not break when it tipps over.
