 Which for me for a weekend getaway where I'm going to the airport, coming home in the airport and for the most part not like wearing my bag consistently not a problem. But for backpacking I know Shay and I both were like oh my shoulders. After you know, a month of this on your back again, the first thing I think of is like all I want is to push it up a little bit, have a hip strap and it would still be perfectly comfortable. Um, so again, if they ever made this with the hip strap, it would be the greatest bag for me

 Yeah, so we were like, well, we could use Ryanair here and there and so that's one of the biggest hardest things to tackle is what will fit, what won't. I need to show up at the airport and be charged even more for because obviously that's why you're using a budget airline. and I actually described this bag. Hi all, I have an ebags motherlode weekender and I love a lot of things about it (including the space and compartments) but like most people, have a really hard time carrying it because it’s so heavy without a proper hip belt. So exploring a few options:

1) has Anyone found a hack for w an aftermarket hip belt for the full size motherlode ?

2) any recommendations for a better bag? I’ll splurge a little but trying to stay under $150. Definitely must not be a top load. I am a female that carries quite a bit of stuff so I prefer bigger bags like the motherlode. I love organizers/pockets &amp; handy features of the sort.

 The Shoulder straps themselves have some decent padding throughout, and are decently thick, and dense with foam.. There are some plastic loops here to attach additional accessories too. And then we have this rail for the sternum strap that is hidden by this flap of polyester fabric

 And Lastly,, there is good laptop protection as long as you can fit your laptop within that hammock.. (upbeat music) On To some of the cons,, it has a bit of a cheap feel overall. The Zippers on the outside can be a bit confusing due to the large volume, and they're also blocked by the compression straps in a lot of areas

Made in Toronto apparently too, which is a plus, does anyone have any experience with Roots’ leather goods so far as durability? 
As always, reccomendations appreciated. I’m open to all sizes, I’d like the outer material to be weather/waterproof, lots of internal pockets/storage options + some external pockets would be appreciated as well. Bonus points for ethical production/labour, Canadian companies.

Weekender bag reccomendations! Opinions on Roots’ bags…

 Presumably, they did this so that the chest strap could be adjusted up or down, as needed.  However, on the bag I got, the slit down the side of one of those little 'funnel' pieces is too wide (or the bulged seam on the shoulder strap isn't wide enough, whichever), and the thing simply refuses to stay connected. It just keeps popping loose, no matter what I do.  So while lugging this thing on my back through several airports in succession, I had to stop and reattach that one end of the chest strap about a dozen times in one day -- so many times, in fact, that I finally got angry and just took the whole stupid chest strap off

If you tighten it enough to actually make a difference in how you're carrying the load, then it gouges into your waist and feels very uncomfortable

2019 Model - Improved?!? - You Decide

 I have been very underwhelmed by the design of the laptop pocket though. I don't think the padding is sufficient to actually protect the laptop and it is kind of hard to slide a laptop in and out of the bag when it is full. A flap in the pocket actually ripped on first use because of this. Otherwise, the backpack does everything as advertised and has served me well

 I think it has held up pretty considering how many snowy nights I have seen it tossed back on to the passenger bridge.  The computer compartment has access on top and is easy to use even with the bag packed full. The fact I can get to it without messing with any clothes is a huge bonus over a lot of bags.  The main reason I like this bag is the straps
