Yes, I've heard bad subwoofers before, but I'd rather have a Jamo or Elac Sub1010 than no sub at all. And yes I do agree premium subwoofers do sound better than a budget subwoofer.

  This Elac sub is a cheaper sounding bass but it has a 10 inch subwoofer and it move the air more than a 5.25inch woofer. If you play with the settings and blend this sub with the JBL530, you can add more bass to the JBL530 without letting the cheaper sound/bass of the Elac from taking over and over powering the sound experience. If set just slightly too high, you get an unatural constant rumbling boom during moments when it is supposed to be quiet or when there is suppose to be ambient dramtic sound track or environmental effects

Definitely adds punch and boom to your system. I have the JBL530 bookshelf speakers as my main speakers in my system. The base sound of the JBL530 are perfect sounding as it has the clear and sharp thump, punch, rumble, and some boom. It is not dull distorted bass at all

 But the 5.25 inch woofers can only move the air so much and in order to get a little room vibrating/shakimg bass, you have to turn it up very loud.  This Elac sub is a cheaper sounding bass but it has a 10 inch subwoofer and it move the air more than a 5.25inch woofer

B: Elac UniFi 2.0 ($550) plus Elac SUB1010 ($120). Assumptions: powered by a capable but not overly muscular amp (say 70 watts into 8 ohms)  with a high pass filter. The Emotivas being a speaker that needs more bass support and probably sound really good when they have it, and the Elacs being a speaker that don't need it as much and you're just adding some oomph to the bottom

 I regret not spending another $30-$50 for a Klipsch like I have elsewhere. It was cheap but the sonics explain why at 120 watts. It’s not the 10” speaker that’s the problem, it’s just under-powered. Get something better

I'm running this off a newer Yamaha integrated amp in my garage/workshop, in a 240 sq ft work area and I’ve really got to crank the output of this sub all the way to get anything like decent bass out of it. I could jack the Yamaha output up first but I’d blow myself out the door with everything above the crossover point before it put out anything decent. A bit under-powered

I am looking for a complete setup for both music and movies. My budget is around 1500$ and my room is about 28 square meters. 

My tv is a lg cx 65.

Looking for a complete setup for both music and movies.

 I wanted a powered sub so I can listen to music at low volume and still have some bass but this sub has no power. I do not recommend. Upadate 3-19-22. So after using the sub for one month the sound output has improved , the sound quality is good BUT there are a couple of things that make me question the long term reliability of the sub's amp : 1) When the sub plugged in but the power switch is in the off position (not the auto off) the amp stays pretty warm, so something stays energized sucking electricity if you put your ear next to it you can a humming from the power supply inverter so you know that will fail 

I had to return the first unit, when connected to my receiver regardless of input, line in or high level input the sub was barely audible with the volume and cross over maxed out and tried on 2 different receivers, so I had to return it, I really liked the form factor it's small and enclosure and appear good quality so I opted for an exchange. The second sub I received was a little better, to get any bass out of it the volume gain has to be a no lower than 75% anything under that and you might as well not have a sub. I wanted a powered sub so I can listen to music at low volume and still have some bass but this sub has no power. I do not recommend

UpDate: sounds ok but Has other issues. I would not recommend

 The speaker isn't overly boomy in the 70 to 140 hz range, and that's unusual for a cheap speaker that calls itself a subwoofer. In reality it is probably best described as an extension of a small pair of bookshelf speakers that supplements low midrange. There is useable sound as low as -say- 60 Hz, but not much. I'd be cautious of buying two for one room because I'd think they might be overpowering in that 80 to 100 hz range, but who knows

A really good value, but more of a midrange/woofer.

I really like the Elac Sub1010 for music. It doesn't do much below 30Hz but it has good tone, it's quick and tight.

New Budget HT Champ?

A solid choice to add bass for my music production studio. I like the ability to adjust the volume and cutoff. Once these are set, I will probably not tweek these knobs very often.  I took off one star because the speaker makes a humming sound, even when it is powered off, but still plugged into a surge protector
