This'll let you step into better gear without paying for it all up front. JRX is a speaker that makes noise, but that's about the only compliment I can give it. The cheapest speakers I wouldn't feel bad about purchasing are small active boxes like EV ZLX or Turbosound M10. RCF and FBT probably make something decent in that range too, but I'm not familiar enough with them to recommend anything

I'm researching hardware for somewhat infrequent rock music gigging. Looking for something decent, but not too expensive as this is just a hobby at this point.

The setup is gonna be simple. Electric guitar with modeler, couple of mics, stereo backing track source. Thinking about getting the Zoom LiveTrak L-8 for live mixing.

My question is mostly concerning the PA speakers. 

Originally I was thinking about a couple of JBL JXR225s and an amp, but then I saw that many people were shitting all over those, apparently low quality, frequent high frequency driver failure, etc.

Are there any better alternatives within similar price range give or take? Preferably at least 400W RMS per speaker, ideally 500W.

Just exploring options now, so open to suggestions.

Gathering hardware for rock gigs

the speaker is amazing, sounds amazing, lightweight as well. The only problem I faced with this speaker is that it turned off every 15 minutes when working at really low volume. I just wished it worked full time, as it sounds amazing! But this time I had to go with a JBL.

They'll break quickly and won't sound great. They also likely won't get nearly as loud as any of the "name brands". I'd check my local pawn shops and Craigslist first for any potential diamonds in the rough, otherwise I'd look for some EV ZLX or JBL Eon's. Do you really want 2x15 speaker cabinets?

What's the catch? In the market for some speakers and came across these. Can anybody tell me more about them? $550 for the pair seems a little too good to be true, especially as brand new.

Tried several speakers and this one was by far the loudest, clearest speaker for music and voice using microphone. The Bluetooth works well but the menu is so klunky you need the manual to use it. The scroll / push button combo knob is not intuitive. It would be better to just have a Bluetooth button to pair

2. Most venues are small bars and clubs, and some outdoor venues, but most of our outdoor gigs are supported by an audio company. 
3. We’re weekend warriors. We want to sound good, but absolutely don’t need to break the bank on on top gear. 
4. Will probably skip a subwoofer at first but would like to add one at some point.

I purchased this product to use as part of a busking setup. Just myself and recorded music - basically glorified karaoke for rather small crowds. The actual music is coming from a battery powered sources and I was going to use this speaker for vocals alone.

I only didn’t take that route to begin with because I’ve always been told you sacrifice significant quality of sound, but im definitely not experienced enough with equipment to know that for a fact.

Any opinions would be *extremely* appreciated. I want to take care an exchange asap if it’s necessary.

Nice speaker,Loud and good sound quality..It has bass but I like more so I upgraded to the 15" version of this speaker and its much better.
