 Not only can you measure your pace and distance when running, but you can also measure your beats per minute. The best part is that you don't have to wear one of those uncomfortable chest straps thanks to the optical heart rate sensor on the back of the watch. I Compared the heart rate sensor to a polar chest strap and found the results to be nearly identical, which is quite impressive. I Was also impressed with how accurate the GPS tracking was, which was on par if not better than competing products from Garmin and polar

 During this time, I Used the GPS and heart rate sensor for around 30 to 40 minutes four to five times a week. It's also a good thing you don't have to charge it often because doing so requires you connected to the mammoth-sized charging cradle, which can be a huge pain to carry around now. I did run into some issues when attempting to acquire GPS signal in New York City Epson has an assisted GPS feature which will pre cache your location on your watch using your smart phone. but even with this enabled, the watch would take longer than the Garmin Forerunner 225 and Polar M4 100

I'm Dan Graziano and I'm here with the Epson run sense SF 810. This isn't a SmartWatch. it's not an activity tracker, but rather a GPS equipped running watch

 You cannot automatically synch up. You need to press and hold a button on the watch until the synch screen shows up. You then leave that screen up until you are completely done transferring data. Once you have the screen up on the watch you have to go into Bluetooth connections on your phone, find the correct one, and manually connect it

 What's the matter with me I'm not very well clearly okay. We're halfway through at 2.5 kilometers I stopped because I want to tighten the watch I Have read that if you have the watch a bit tighter on your wrist, then it's more likely to pick up your heart rate better. Epson Runsense SF 810 - Review 1

 The first thing I noticed is that the set-up process is a bit more time intensive and unintuitive than I am used to. With most other watches, I have been able to charge them and get them set up without instruction. For this, I needed to consult the thick set-up guide that came with the watch. This is definitely not "plug and play"

  I was really looking forward to the heart rate monitor feature. Prior to this, I have used chest strap heart rate monitors paired to GPS watches. This works well but is one more thing to put on before running. My hope was this would be an easy fix for this

 Sometimes it picks back up for a bit, but I wouldn't trust any average heart rate from it. I just finished a 6.2 mile treadmill run, and although the indoor feature worked well at tracking the distance, the HRM dropped after a little over 2 miles. Just about the time I started to sweat, and didn't ever pick back up

Nice product for ease of use, decent GPS and does what it says it does, with the exception of the heart rate monitor (HRM). Might as well buy the less expensive version without the HRM. I have tried to make it work, but the HRM is pretty much useless. As soon as you start to sweat it drops

 Too bad this one doesn't just go the old fashioned route and use a chest strap. Sometimes so called "progress" (wrist based HRM) is the pits..

 I might simply set the third and fourth screens to repeat the first two, so I can just scroll through them (just thought of that), but if you want a live bar-graph of your pace per mile or more heart-rate detail, it’s available. Screen scrolling is easy with the push of a button or a screen-tap (user selectable) so no big deal having four screens; data hounds will love it.  So let’s go run. The watch fits great; the band is flexible, light-weight and simply works

 I’m a long-time, habitual Strava-user and prefer its data presentations and social community, so I connected the two apps and all my activities are seamlessly shared. (Oddly, Strava still seems to support only one-way auto-connections; but RUNSENSE allows you to upload GPX files measured on other devices). Social connections for showing-off and/or getting that all-important motivation – if it’s not uploaded, it didn’t happen – are available with shares to Twitter and Facebook.  Finally, all-important and happiness-limiting battery-life seems very good (note to self: don’t let this bother you so much, just enjoy the run)

 It becomes even simpler if you download the RUNSENSE app (why all caps?) to your Android or iOS device and establish a Bluetooth connection. At that point your phone becomes an easy interface useful for setting up screen preferences and personal info. I learned of the app after getting my watch set up using the button and scroll puzzle on the watch, and felt silly for not realizing the simplicity of the app beforehand. But once you get the watch’s four screen preferences set to your liking, there is not much else to adjust

 Keeping the optical heartrate monitor clean is important, but not having a strap is a good reason to go with the SF-810 (other Espon models rely on the strap). The RUNSENSE website (three stars) is super-detailed, but overdone with colorful icons and crowded presentation. I expect if you like that kind of thing, it could be very helpful, and you’ll probably dig into it and get a lot out of it. The USB connection works every time

Easy running with GPS

  I do have hopes that Epson will read all of the reviews concerning the app and will update it or better yet, completely revamp it. If the app was better, this would be a 5 star review because the watch is solid, the heart rate monitor is built in and the GPS incredibly accurate. As it is, I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4

 GPS is MUCH more accurate for keeping track of the actual distance covered than a pedometer and Epson's GPS seems to be extremely sensitive. If you have a goal of covering a certain distance daily or weekly, this watch makes it extremely easy to see if you met your goal or exactly how far short you fell.  When paired with the Epson Run Sense app, you can keep track of your workouts, both distance and time. Additionally, you can set goals and it will let you know how much further or faster you need to be to reach them

 You can get the app for your PC, put the watch into the charging/data cradle, plug it into your PC, and upload your workouts that way, too. That is faster.  I do have hopes that Epson will read all of the reviews concerning the app and will update it or better yet, completely revamp it. If the app was better, this would be a 5 star review because the watch is solid, the heart rate monitor is built in and the GPS incredibly accurate
